A Fire Within | Pay one off or put a little towards all? |
With my tax refund Im going to pay credit card bills, however, which is smarter? Put the refund all on one card or put a little on each card? |

From what I have learned from Suze Orman, one of the lead financial analysist out there, is that you take your credit card that has the highest APR on it and put as most you can afford on there, while paying the minimum on the others, when the 1st highest is paid off you continue to do the same, by putting everything you can on that one and the minimum on the rest until eventually your all paid up.
That is exactly what I am doing!!! You'll be amazed at how fast you can get one paid off, by paying the minimum on the rest. Oh and another thing I have learned, when you have paid off the credit cards, try never to use them, AND NEVER CLOSE THAT CARD OUT, as that will drop your credit score!!
Good Luck!! |

Pay off the one that has the highest interest rate. You can call each of them and ask if they are willing to lower the rate first. |

First, stay current on all of them (pay the minimums).
Then, decide what you want to do.
If you want to simply use this refund as a one-shot deal, pay down the highest interest rate.
If you want to start a plan to knock out all of the cards, then pay down the smallest ones first. |

If you are current, pay off one card. The following month you take the money you would have used to pay on that card and apply it to another. This domino effect will soon have them all paid off. The key to this working of course is to not use the one(s) you paid off. |

Never spread the money across all cards. It is always better to pay off one, then use the money you save to pay on the next one. Pay the one with the lowest balance, then work your way up. Get them all paid off, then resolve to never use them again. Cancel all but one that you only use in absolute emergencies. Pay cash or do without. You will thank yourself for using that strategy. |

what you should do is pay the min toward all your credit cards than pay more on the one that has the most interest and in doing that over time all cards will be paid off. instead of paying one off and leaving the others will hurt you more. hope i helped. |

Pay off one. Just pick the one with the highest interest rate and finance charges. The take the money you just saved and apply it to another dept until it is paid off, then do it again and again until they are all gone. Even you house. |

It's ok to carry a small balance.
Kiplingers Magazine states that keeping your balances below 30% of your available credit can keep your rating top notch.
If you can, pay them all off to bring them down below this 30% threshhold. / |

I would give each one a said amount because if something should happen and you don't have the money for the others that month, then it would be foolish to get hit with late fees and other charges. This way your ahead of the game. |
