Okay, I really need about $100 because I had my grocery money, but lost it, and I have a child to feed..so it seems the only choice I have is a payday loan..so are there any out there that are legit? I found one that said if I borrowed $100 I would only have to pay back $125..does that sound right? It was from www.mypaydayloan.com..I have heard a lot of bad things about these places..but I really need the money..so where could I go to get one?

Payday loans are legit and great if it is a fast loan and you pay it back on your VERY NEXT paycheck.
The interest rates on these loan are beyond high, extremely high. The thing with these it that most folks don't pay it off on their next paycheck but ask for extensions, which they have to pay for plus the original interest.
So at the end on a 100.00 loan you are paying double or sometimes triple what you borrowed.
If you can pay it back immediately then if you need it, I understand feeding your kids. I have two. But if you know, you won't be able to pay it back on your next check. I say borrower a few bucks from a friend or family member and pay them the interest of 25.00.

First check with local Angels. They are a group that provide food through churches. Call the churches and tell them you need food for the baby also, there is wick through your local office and food stamps. Pay day loans are a rip off. Do you see that it's 25% for a week. Very expensive and do not recommend it. Churches will help you and that is what they are there for. Lost it? Dog ate it? |

That sounds about right. These places are regulated.
The next question is will it hurt you to have $125.00 taken out of your next check.
This is where the cycle begins. Extending the payment from one payday to the next.
See if there is a relative that can loan you the $100 until your next check. Then make sure to give them the $100 when you get your check. |

I used to borrow from these places a lot, at a time when I was financially strapped. A fee of $25.00 on a $100.00 loan sounds average. Requirements goes like this....On your first visit only, you must come in with your checkbook, a valid drivers license or state ID, your last 3 paycheck stubs, your last 3 bank statements, and 2 utility bills in your name. All this is for opening up an account. After the first visit, you'll just need ID and a blank personal check.
You'll sign an agreement for their files, and then make out a check to the check-cashing place, for the amount of the loan, plus the fee. The check cashiers will hold onto your personal check. On your next payday, they will cash the personal check. Be sure to have the money available in the account.
The problem is, this can become a repeated cycle. Next payday, you'll have to pay the $125.00 back, and you'll be short of $ again. And you'll be going right back to the check cashing place to borrow against the next upcoming payday. This is exactly what the check-cashing place wants.
So try to borrow the smallest amount possible. Don't borrow $100.00 for groceries til payday if you can make it with only $50.00 of groceries. This way, come payday, the amount you have to payback will be less. I hope this helps. |

Payday loans are helpful in emergencies and what you found sounds about right. Just make sure you pay it off as quickly as you can.
