I just made my first purchase with my credit card a couple days ago and the statement just showed up on my account. I called the bank and they said I could transfer the money from my checking account to my credit card account and pay it that way, but I'm confused, not about how to do it, about how transferring that money to that account will pay the bill. I mean will I even get a bill in the mail if I pay it over the computer because I want to keep a record of it and I don't have ink in my printer to print out anything I may need to keep a copy of. Should I just wait and pay it with a check through the mail? |

I would pay it online to make sure that it gets there and credited to your account on time. Too much can happen when you mail it.
You should get a paper statement until you opt out of paper statements. |

They send a bill even if you pay online. I just got a hilarious "bill" that goes on a great length telling me what happens if I do not pay on time, but also says that I do not owe anything and that they owe me.
You could also wait for the bill and then pay online.
You could send a check in the mail before you get the bill. |

that is the best way.
You can make an automatic payment from your checking to pay your credit card. Of course make sure that you have enough money in your checking account. Pay before your due date. It all ways looks better to those bandits.
I am assuming that your credit card is with the same bank as your checking account. If it is the same bank then I would do it that way.
On line banking is the way to go. Just make 100% sure that you have anti virus and anti spyware installed on your computer. If some one hacks your computer then you have something to stand with concerning your bank.
If not, then make sure that your payment by a check will reach your credit provider before the due date.
Even one late payment can affect your credit rating. Just once. Believe me. |

Payment: If you have online bill pay through your bank, just set up the credit card as a vendor using the credit card account information and enter the payment amount in the bill pay screen. If not, check the credit card website; they may offer online payment through your bank, just make sure they won't charge you a fee for doing so. You can also wait and send a check through the mail. Either way, the payments will transfer from your bank to the credit card and the record of payment will show on both your bank account and the credit card.
Statement/bill: whether the statement comes in the mail or not depends on your agreement with the credit card company. If they send bills via mail, it will come regardless of whether it's already paid or not. If you've agreed to online notification, the email will come to you regardless of payment, but it may only provide a link and not the actual bill. See if the credit card company shows the bill online. You could possibly save it as an electronic file on your computer and avoid all the paperwork. |

If you elect paperless billing, you will not get a printed statement.
I assume from your comments that your CC is through your bank. If it works like my bank, you transfer money from checking or savings over to the CC account and make the payment.
I print the confirmation for my records.
I pay a lot of bills this way and that saves me going to the post office, etc. Just set up your accounts with your bank, go on line and select the accounts to pay and the amounts and you are done. |
