Paying your credit card late?
I paid my credit card payment on the due date but it didn't process it until the next day, I got a late payment fee and it was considered late. Will that affect my credit score at all?

No, it will not. You must be at least 30 days past due for this to be reported to the credit bureaus.

One late payment won't affect it much. But you can't cut it that close - you've got to allow a greater margin of safety in making your payments.

Been there, and done that. If you paid it on line, and the due date was on a holiday or a weekend when their office was closed, then you can call them up to request that they rescind the late fee and not have you show a late payment on your record. If you have been paying on time up to now, then this will not affect your credit record. I would recommend that you verify that when you pay, make sure that the due date is not a holiday or a weekend.

It's highly unlikely to affect your credit. Most banks don't report late payments to the credit bureaus until it's 30 days late. Your situation was one-day late, not 30.

But, the banks just love that $39 late fee you just gave them. Yum!

~Fabulous~
You may be able to call and ask them to take away the late charge...especially if this is your first time and you have a good history with the company. It's happened to me before and they did take the fee away, which in the end did not affect my credit score.

You have to remember when you pay for a credit card online, it may be in a different time zone. So paying at 1pm in the afternoon, may actually be 3pm, or 5pm...if you remember that then you should be ok in the future.

Good Luck!

each credit card company is different but most will not report it you need to be real late and even no pay before they will report it most of them will work with you

Well it wont affect (effect?) your score but it WILL change your interest rate....
I bet you you will go from whatever teaser rate you have to a huge default rate of 22% or more.

In terms of your credit score, LATE is 30 days so since you were no where near that there will be no problems there
however
the new interest rate is going to really hurt

Call the card company and ask them to waive the late fees (they probably will because they know that they will get that money back 10x in the new interest fees)

It is time to seriously start looking for a new card to switch your balance to because the interest rate will rape your bank account!

It might not affect your credit score this time, but some (most) credit card companies have a default stipulation that if you make 1 late payment your interest rate increases drastically.....for instance one of my cards apr is 12.9%......if I make a late payment apr is now 27%.

thekrazeekatt
If this is your first time, probably not. Just remember to pay it before the due date so that its processed on time. If you do this a lot, it would probably hurt a little bit.

skip742
It might. It just depends on how vicious your credit card company is. Normally, they don't report it late unless it is 30 days late. So, the only place it will hurt you is within their own organization.

However, be aware that this is also a scam that many credit card companies are playing with today. They choose to "receive" your payment after the due date, even though they received it on time. That way they can gouge you for another fee.

Beachbumminblonde
Yes, the late will affect your credit score. Credit companies love lates!!! UGH-h..

However, due to being your first time the company will likely waive the late fee for you. But, don't count on them helping you with the 1x30 on your credit report...
