So if the check is deposited into your account ASAP from your business. If it is bad you know right away. I have done research for a long time. Judging by the number of class action suits filed against PayPal I wouldn't use them. Look at how many complaints on Yahoo Answers and all over the news and internet. |

When you are shopping for taking credit cards all of the things I mentioned above is what you should look for. Also low discount rate and transaction fee. Do not buy or lease equipment or software,because there really is no need to. Do not go by what some rep tells you always read your contract before you sign up. Take care of you and you business! :-)

PayPal is the most widely known and used online payment sending/receiving site. I have never had a problem with it but they have many rules and they can be a bit of a pain. Make sure you read their site before you do anything.
I guess it depends on what you want to use the site for. If you are internet shopping, generally I recommend using a credit card directly with a reputable company then you always have the ability to charge back if something goes wrong and you are not out anything. If you charge back through PayPal they tend to get nasty because they want you to resolve problems with them which is not easy when you cross border shop and takes much longer than directly through your credit card company.
In addition, PayPal forces you to deal in the currency of your country. So if you buy something on ebay in US dollars they charge you a fee to convert to Canadian dollars which can be more than what your credit card/bank would charge. Same with if you want to receive payments. If someone sends you US money you can only get it in the form of Canadian dollars if you live in Canada. It does not matter if you have a US dollar bank account.
I would always ask yourself each time you need to send or receive money what your options are and what works best in that situation. There are banks that include many options for free or low cost to pay bills and get money orders, etc. One thing to keep in mind is do you know who you are dealing with? If you are sending or receiving money from someone you do not know be very careful. Document everything because it is easy to get screwed over even through PayPal. I have found credit cards work best in these situations because many offer fraud protection. Never use a place like Western Union to conduct business with strangers. There is no way for you to get your money back and never take personal checks without holding them until you sure the check is real and the money is there. The bank will give you the money but if the check turns out bad the bank will come after you to return the money. |

I've used Paypal ever since it was in its infancy. I do trust it, actually, I've never had a problem with it. There was a time years ago where there was somehow an unauthorized charge on my account, and I call Paypal, they investigated it and my money was returned without a problem. |

Well first you must have a checking account of some sort. Then you will need a merchant account. There is software to choose from. Some come with a check out cart for your web site. When you choose a merchant account provider, look for the best discount rates, no annual fees, no application fee, no start up costs, make sure you get your software for processing credit cards for free, and train you for free. Read all contracts BEFORE you sign up with them. (People promise you things sometimes that just are not true.)
Now as far as Pal Pal is concerned, there are thousands of complaints about them freezing your account and keeping your money. So if I were you I would seriously read up on that. I will never refer someone to PayPal. Even on Yahoo Answers you see all this stuff going on with PayPal complaints. Check the "Rip Off Report" and make sure the company you choose is not on there.
I use Simple Payment Systems and am satisfied. Check out the web site read up what you can on the software and services. They beat any quote you give them from other companies. I found them here on Yahoo Answers. |
