Please let me know...?
Does anyone else spend all of their month's wages before the first week is finished?

To the lady that thinks I need counselling... I think that you have issues and need counselling yourself. To think that of people who have enough money to only meet the necessities and then find that they are broke is just plain crazy you bitter idiot.

yep. and i spend my husbands as well...............

princess
Yes!
But recently I wrote a budget for the first time and stuck to it. I'd recommend it, I felt so proud of myself getting to the end of the month and still having a credit balance.
About bloody time too - I'm 27 for god's sake!
I never worried about money though; I used to pay all my bills on pay day, do a big shop then use and abuse the rest of my money as and when I wanted to, and when it ran out I'd deal with being 'poor' for the rest of the month. But living like a queen for the first part of the month was great, and for that, I've never been miserable.
However, I will teach my children the art of budgeting and saving because you never know what's around the corner....

I get paid twice a month and before the first week is up I'm broke. It's the way of life for a lot of us. Look at it this way, as long as the rent/mortgage, groceries, car/bus pass, & utilities are paid your OK. I remember times when I had a hard time meeting those basic needs. If you have a problem with this try having your bank transfer a portion of your check into a savings account right away. Then you can use that money for later on in the month.

Yep Sure do almost every paycheck. Those that have said oh it's irresponsible, or they stick to a budget, need counseling are you living at home with the mommy and daddy paying for everything? everyone has a different situations to where they aren't in any situation that they can save at this time whether it's raising a family, being in debt, in school, etc. It also depends on where you live in my case the Bay Area in California where EVERYTHING is HIGH from the gas being on average $3.75 a gallon and not to mention the housing is HIGH as well

yep

No I don't I manage it by having two accounts & a saving account at the beginning of the month the exact amount comes out of my account to cover all rent, bills travel and food for the month and then a small amount to savings.

The remainder is mine to do what with if I spend it all then I stay in all month!

I live with my b/f and pay half of everything. I do not have debt because if I want something I save for it. I didn't always do this but realised very quickly that budgets are best!

Not quite - but I used to. Budgeting and putting some away in a savings account is good advice IF you can afford to do it - but these days it is difficult- especially if you are a low earner. My advice would be to pay all the essentials as soon as you get paid i,e set up standing orders for bills so the money goes out of the account before it gets spent on something else - Food shop for the whole period between pay days so that you won't starve and then you won't worry so much at having blown what's left. If you don't treat yourself you'll go mad and shouldn't have to feel guilty about it. Just don't fall into the trap of taking on a credit card or store card you can't afford or else i guarantee you will regret it.

i time all my bills to come out immediately after i get paid, so most of my expense is in that 1st week, after that its always a case of scrimping to eak out food money for rest of month.

JB
Nope. I have a written budget. Sticking to that budget prevents spending it all before the first week is finished.

No. To do that would be irresponsible.

never have and never will. Someone has problems and needs counseling.
Everything should go into the bank, and only pay for necessities.
