Prepaid credit cards?
I am 17 years old. I want to buy things online but my parents would allow me to get a credit card. Is there such a thing as a prepaid card? Where I pay money and that money goes into the card. Is there a minimum amount of money to put it? After the card runs out of money can I add more and keep using it? And where should I go to get one?

There's tons of them out now- you can get them at banks, grocery stores, or pharmacies (like CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens) and even Walmart.
YOu can either buy single use ones or ones you top up; most of them require an initial payment- a fee to activate- some will give you a portion of the fee back once you add money to them though.
All you need to do is buy one, and you can put money on it at the register- it may take a few days, b/c a lot of them actually mail the card to you with your name on it- so if it's an emergency type thing, you should read the package carefully to make sure it's an instant use one.
Green dot is the only name I can think of off hand, but there's more out there.
You could also try opening a checking account, which your parent will probably have to co-sign on, but then you'd be able to get a debit card connected to the funds in the check/savings account; it works the same- if there isn't any money in the account, you can charge anything- but they're accepted as visa/mastercard everywhere. You will also avoid fees that way.
here's a link to green dot:

there might be
but you could get a checking/savings account and then you will get a debit card that wont let you spend more than what you have. but you have to know how much money oyu have.
tell your parents this is good management skills because you can save your money safely and oyu have to manage exactly what you have

good luck

The best and safest way it to get one from your bank so that you don't need to give your account details to a company and in the current situation there's a chance that companies that provide those cards could go broke whereas banks have more protection against that.

lindsay!
a visa gift card yes. but i really dont know a lot about them ,i know you have to pay like a big fee just to buy it and than to put money on it.

DontTaseMeBro
Well in that way open a bank account, put money in it, get your debit card, and use it online.

=]
you can go to walmart or somewhere like that and get a credit card that is the same thing as a gift card, but you can buy it online and you put the money on it. It works the same as a debit card.

mister kidd
I know at wal mart you can buy pre-paid credit cards. but you cant put money on them. they come with a certain amount on them. like $25, $50, $75, $100 etc...
