HV | Prepaid visa (how does it work?)? |
Can I buy something that costs less then I've got on the card, and have a balance remaining or do I have to use it all at once? |
|

A prepaid credit card is more like a debit card,
since it works off the amount you purchase for the credit limit.
FYI, FastCard VISA DOES let you use the card for cash withdrawals ... provided you have funds to cover the amount.
When you are running out of funds, you can recharge it. Most drug stores & many other retailers carry the recharge cards.
HERE is the catch ... Every time you spend money, a service is also debited from your balance.
If you use FastCard, here is the list of fees:
FEES AND OTHER CHARGES
When using your Card, certain transactions may incur fees and other charges as described below. You agree that we may debit these fees and other charges from the Associated Value on your Card, which will reduce the Associated Value available to you for Debit Transactions. You agree that we may change these fees and other charges at any time at our discretion. If we do so, we will provide you notice in accordance with applicable law. You will be charged the following fees:
Monthly Card Maintenance Fee: $3.95 per month
Reload Fee: $3.95
ATM Withdrawal Fee: $2.00
ATM Balance Inquiry Fee: $0.75
ATM International Fee: $2.00, plus 3% of the Transaction Amount
ATM Denial Fee: $0.75
PIN Purchase Fee: $0.75
PIN Purchase Denial Fee: $0.75
Card to Card Transfer Fee: $1.95
Lost or Stolen Card Replacement Fee: $7.95
Paper Statement Fee: $1.95 (first class mail);
No charge for a fax request (1 per year maximum) |

Yes you can buy something less and have the balance left on the card for another day. i have also been in situations where I wanted to buy something that was more than what is in the card and I have been allowed to use it and cover up the balance with another card. |

Exactly as you stated originally. There will be a balance remaining on the card, you just have to keep track of how much you spend and how much you have left. You can use it anywhere that accepts visa.
If you don't know the pin, just say "credit" when making a purchase. |

Like a normal giftcard but for stores that accept visa. You just need to watch out for the balance. The store can't tell you how much money is left inside of it. |

you do not have to use it all at one time, you have the balance remaining for other purchases |

It works much like a debit card. Say you have $100 on it. You go to the movie and spend use it, spending $15. That leaves $85. Now you want to buy some clothes and that's $80, leaving you $5 on it. Now you go buy something that costs $10, so you hand the card over, debit the $5 off it and pay the difference in cash or another card. You can't go get cash off of it, though.
Easy. |

No, you can use as much of the money you want as long as you do not go over what you have deposited on the card. If you have $300.00 on the card and use $45.00 that is fine. |

A visa card (non-black card) usually has monthly credit limit for purchasing, which you could check with the issuer bank. You can spend less than a credit limit or not spending any, but you can't spend more than the limit. |
