If you have a mortgage, your first payment is usually taken when the loan is closed. For example, if you close the loan on May 17, then you will pay the monthly payment for June (and 15 days of "per diem" interest for May 17 through May 31). Your first monthly payment will be due on August 1.

On an ongoing basis, your payment is due on the 1st of every month. It is late on the 2nd of every month. But most mortgage companies won't assess a Late Fee until the 15th of the month.

Hope this helps.

Good luck!

It's at least 25 days after you close on the mortgage. Your loan documents will have it on them but if you close on the 8th of April & you have a conventional or FHA/VA loan your first payment would be due on 6/1. If you closed on 4/5/08 you could be due on 5/1 since they can give you a 5 days interest credit. Call your mortgage company & ask them- Regardless it would not be due on the closing date in any case.

You can set the date you want the direct debit to come out of your account, usually done when applying for the mortgage but am sure if you contact your mortgage lender they will be able to change the date for you.

You should ask your bank when you need to pay it without incurring any charges. I pay mine on the 10th and do not incur any interest like one person here stated.

You pay on the day specified in the loan agreement documents that you signed. It's usually due on the first of the month, but there are exceptions.

All first mortgages are due on the first of each month. There is no grace period on any type of loan. If you make your payment on the 10th, you are charged 10 days of interest, it's called per-diem. If you have any doubts, just call your mortgage co and ask what the per-diem rate is past your due date.

As a practising Mortgage Advisor, with 7 years of CeMap experience behind me, i can tell you that you CAN choose the date you wish to pay.
Since the FSA took over the mortgage market in 2002 they have stated that people must be allowed to pick the date that best suits them - rather than the lender. The main reason being is that people get paid at different time of the month. I get paid on the 15th of each month, but my partner gets paid on the last friday of each month!!!
All lenders have to give you this choice in the UK, otherwise the FSA argues that they are `pushing` people towards defaulting on paying - through no fault of their own.
If you are having problems with your bank, get in touch with : fsa.com - and they should be able to back you up.

Hope this helps
