x7bren | Second Chance Banking or Best Prepaid Debit Card? |
I've been on a quest to find the best prepaid debit card. I used to have one through Virgin Mobile that allowed you to pay a direct fee monthly and you could use the card as often as you liked.
However they stopped their program and I'm wanting to find something similar. I know there has to be some prepaid card out there with no activation fee or setup fee and with a low monthly fee to use the card.
I've tried out allot of the basics and nothing is what I want. Is there any other options? I don't have the credit to get a standard checking account so any help would be needed. |

You can order an All-Access Card here:
http://www.allaccesscard.com
This is by a company called NetSpend, which is the same company that powered the Stash card for Virgin Mobile, so it's basically the same product but without the Virgin Logo. The cards have all the same features, and look a lot more like mainstream credit cards or bank cards.
If you would prefer a MasterCard by the same company you can get one here:
http://www.prepaidmastercardnow.com
It's slightly cheaper but has fewer features. |

The Greendot Citi Bank Mastercard is really good, for the simple reason that it doesn't charge a monthly fee.I had $12.00 on there for about 3 months. The only bad thing is theres only one way to load it,and thats through the greendot money pack which is 4.95.Other than that, your balance stays the same, unless you take money out of a ATM.Or you could try Tri-Century bank, its a paperless internet bank, but it does provide with a Mastercard debit card, but I'm not sure if you can pay bills with it. |

While there are a lot of options for establishing new credit or checking accounts, prepare yourself for fees. Considering the risk the lender is taking they compensate by charging you fees up the river. Ask direct questions. Remember these are short term. As your credit cleans up you will find getting cards gets easier. good luck! |

I recently checked out prepaid debit cards for a friend and I couldn't find one that doesn't have (a) activation fee and (b) a monthly charge. However, many of the major banks now offer a Basic Bank Account for people with poor credit history |

I guess banks in CA don't check credit because I have never heard of this before. I know you get turned down if you're on Chex systems. Anyway, here is a list of some cards. I'm not sure about activation fees. Also, Rushcard is good, but there is a $19.95 activation fee and $1 everytime you use it. The do give cashback rewards every few months for using the card. |
