tax credit office has hounded me for three years for a overpayment £3000.00 which I always stated i did not receive
I have had court notices sent 3 times
yesterday they sent me a letter stating there has been a technical error I only received £1629.19 for the whole year so there could not have been a overpayment .
they have offered me a cheque for £50.00 in recognition of the worry & distress that have been caused by their delays in sorting my case
I think they have a bare faced cheek should I take this further

the court officer cancelled the orders because tax credit had not completed my case I would have went to court gladly to prove them wrong |

I suppose your first thoughts are to turn the offer down but I don't think you would be entitled to anything if you took it further. They have owned up that the mistake was theirs not yours, just make sure that you have not been blacklisted. I would accept their offer. |

Take the money and close the book on it. You could have proved them wrong 3 years ago and didn't. If you got 3 court notices, why didn't you go and take care of it?
