Are you on any type of benefits as that would effect the payments. I would advise you contact Pay plan, national debt helpline, CCCS or even for free advise go to http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk and contact The GodMother.

All help from all of the above mentioned places is free.

If you have to go ahead.
But you will have troubles such as:
Getting a job - employers do not like hiring irresponsible people.
Paying much more for car insurance - yes, they run a credit check.
Getting an apartment - with that big of a ding, you may have to pay 4 months in advance rent just to move in.
Of course, you will have to live without credit for about 8 to 10 years until you can clear this off all your reports. Lots of work.

Wow, where did you learn your thinking..

Lets cover a "fresh start" first of all, it will take 10 plus years just for the BK to go off your record. After that, it will take 5 years to get your score back up into the 700+ area. Please ask yourself this, are you really willing NOT to buy a car or a house for 10-15 years? Yes you could buy a car again when your 28 or so, but your interest rates will be in the 25% range. A payment on a Geo Metro would be $500 a month, your car insurance will be high risk. Also, forget about buying a house without 50,000 or 100,000 down payment.

Some people are talking about consumer credit consoling, using them is looked at the same way as going BK..

You have a long uphill battle here. Try and figure a way to pay down your current debt, somehow, get 2 or 3 jobs..

Here is the big bummer, women are not attracted to guy with credit problems...

get to a credit advisor STAT...I filed at age 21 (4 years ago) and it was the biggest regret I have...I had no choice as mine was because of medical debt and not having health insurance...but go thru a credit advisor 1st and see what options you have...i'm still not even close to rebuilding my credit after 4 years of many good standing accounts...

good luck, and tear up those credit cards

If you don't have to file than DON'T if you can find a way around it that's what you want to do.Have you tried consumer credit counseling? This is a very good source for helping you pay back the debt you have created they can negotiate lower rates and sometimes even lower your debt.

There isn't really a "fresh start" with filing bankrupcty. About 2 years ago my aunt filed and it cost her almost $10,000 just to file, and she had about the same amount of debt as you. Now she can't even rent a house and lives with my 76 year old grandmother.

As long as you have no ethics that say you should pay for what you bought or incurred, you can proceed to bankruptcy.

Remember that you will have to disclose the bankruptcy on any mortgage loan applications for the rest of your life, at least if you don't want to commit fraud.

talk with a BK lawyer. You didn't say how much you make. A BK may not totally resolve your problems.

No. You need very good credit to obtain a mortgage (home loan) and may also need good credit to obtain a job. It can take at least 10 years to rebuild credit after a bankruptcy. You cannot wait until you are 33 to get a job or a home.

If you are working, dont do it; you can pay this off like $400-$500 a month through debt settlement over 36 months. You dont want a bankruptcy around your neck for the next 10 years. My sister used a company called Total Debt Solutions --www.totaldebtsolutionsllc.com to get out of debt. Check them out; you can call and talk to them toll free for nothing. The company they partner with has been in business 10 years, have no BBB complaints, and mandate that you keep your funds in a trust account (this protects you.) Best of luck to you.
