If it's going to be removed in 4 months, then just leave it. But it's your choice. I suppose, if you have an extra $400 lying around, it might not hurt to pay it. |

If you owe the money, pay it as the ethical thing to do. If you don't owe it, go back to the company charging you and fight the charge. Keep all records such as letters or email to show the bank when the mortgage application is in question. |

call the creditor or collection agency and make them a counter offer to mark it paid and remove it from your credit report if they agree and send you a signed agreement to accept the offer as paid in full send them the amount you negotiated. |

When it comes to your credit history, never assume anything will magically disappear. It may be replaced by something worse for your credit rating, another type of flag or notice. |

There's no guarantee that it will fall off. If you have the money and ability to pay it then do so. If you are struggling with bills, gas, groceries and such then wait it out. It still could show up on your credit when you go to get the house but if it's paid then it may reflect good since "although it was a charge off, it has a 0 balance".
It's a personal decision, but I would pay it if you have the means to. |

Ok so i know everyone is going to say " you owe it so you should pay it" but when i was young and i was pregnant and working 3 jobs i had some bills that i could not pay!! My rent was more important to me then my medical bills!! Anyways now that i am getting financialy stable... I was thinking about paying them off... But it just a few months they are going to fall off my credit report... They have not sued me... i figure if they were worried about it they would have done something about it! But since they didnt i am just going to leave them alone and act like they didnt happen!! And in a few months no one will ever know!! Wrong??? Kinda! But would $400 really be that big for a multi million dollar company?? Not so much!! Keep the $400!! Good Luck! |

The longer you keep it on your credit report the worse your score is going to get! If it stays on your report as not paid it looks bad. It looks a little better if it is still on there and shows paid. |

A charge off stays on your credit report for eight years. |
