Credit card companies cannot screw you over unless you agreed to the terms of the agreement by using their product. The phrase "live within your means" applies here. |

Better idea: don't charge more than you can repay each month. |

A better solution is for the American public to stop paying less attention to Paris/Britney and take back control of Congress + the Presidency from corporate influence.....The credit card industry was the single biggest contributor to Bush...even more than the oil companies....In this situtation, they are rewarded and their lobbyist are allowed to write their own legislation.... It is this environment that allows credit card giants to get away with usury interest. A mass boycott of people not paying their credit card bills would only result in a mass of people getting bad credit.... |

live within your means and this becomes a non issue. The only time I have ever paid interest is when I made a mistake and lost the bill or paid it in full late. I only charge what I can pay off.
There is NO way your plan will ever work. Some people care about their credit history and would NEVER not pay their bills for 6 months in the hope that their baby like actions would get them lower rates. If you need lower rates talk to the bank, switch credit cards. Or better yet pay off your bill and live within your means |

They aren't screwing me over. I don't use credit. I actually PAY for the things that I buy.
Try it. It's so simple even YOU could figure it out! |

Not paying the bill is silly and stupid. You bought the items on the card didn't you?
Yes they are sharks in suits. But the best think we can do is get back to living like our grand parents and great parents did, save and pay cash.
Personally pay on time every time each month, call them and inform them if they don't lower your rate you will switch to a different company that is sending one of a hundred offers to you daily.
Get out of debt and stay that way. close all cards and use only a debit card tied to your checking account.
There are no free rides, pay your debts, you eliminate one master, the credit card companies, the other master, the IRS can be managed by voting for politicians who believe in strong fiscal restraint, and of the candidates in the offing look at their earmarks for their district to see who your choice would be. I know who mine will be.

I agree with Slimick. There is too much corporate influence in our government currently. |

Be reasonable. The credit card companies have to have a way to make a profit to cover their expenses servicing the 48% of card holders who use no-fee cards and pay their balance in full each month and only use the cards for convenience and to collect rebates. |

So what happens in six months? You are stuck with an inactive credit card and owe all your debt at 29% interest?
GREAT PLAN.
Fellow Americans - it is great minds like that of this guy that:
A - Got GW Bush elected
B - Are the reason we are in Iraq - STILL
C - Created a bubble in the housing market that crashed
D - ALL OF THE ABOVE. |

Not really...and I have an insurmountable amount of debt - I have seriously considered bankruptcy at some points.
When it comes down to it, I know I got myself in this mess. I'm working 70+ hours a week to get out. I have been trying to get out for years with little to no success...the workweek is making me crazy sometimes. The thing is, I know I can get myself out - somehow. I just keep working and keep putting whatever I can toward the bills.
You know what though? I had a little bit of a temper tantrum RE: the debt a little over a year ago. "Eff it, I'm never getting out and I may as well just let my credit go straight to..." Well, you fill in the blank. I found that I didn't necessarily need to be as militant on myself on paying them as I was (most of the pressure to pay was coming from me more than from collectors). I found that after I took the pressure off myself on paying them and just let myself accept I can pay whatever I can pay, I can get somewhere - not far, but somewhere. |
