Yes, as long as they are responsible card holders.
Credit card privileges should apply the same for students as they should for anybody.
If they don't pay their bills on time, they shouldn't be using credit cards.
Credit cards should only be for people who know how to use them responsibly.
if the student uses them and remembers to pay them off properly, then he/she is allowed to keep them. |

I think if you are responsible you can have one. I have one and I use it all the time but I always try to make sure that I know I have the money when I need to pay it off. However, I am 22 and responsible so I don't worry. It is about responsibility and students need to learn it one way or another. I think they are old enought to make their own decisions and if they know they will over-use it, then don't get one. Simple as that! |

NO! Even adults cant be trusted with credit cards half the time. I myself only being in my 20's dont have one b/c later on if u cant pay it off then the law will come after u and take EVERYTHING away from u...i've seen it happen to many friends and family of mine. |

Students will act irresponsibly regardless of the credit card. It doesn't matter if it's a $400 limit or $5000 limit.
The credit cards already have restrictions in place by means of requiring certain credit scores and preferred history.
If the student is under 18 the parents will provide the extra restriction. Otherwise, the student is an adult and should learn to be responsible on their own.

I think it depends on the student, and it should be limited. Some people are very responsible. Even the most responsible student can find them self caught up in a huge problem with credit. I feel if they are responsible, monitored, and there is a limit - it can be a great way to establish credit for the future and help out in a jam. |

no one should have a credit card ..
it wont teach them anything about money or real world

Students should be issued credit cards, so that they can learn the importance of credit. Parents who cosign with their child need to realize that they are now taking on a teacher role to show their child proper use of it. I personally have never involved my parents. When I started, I applied for a secured credit card at a bank 5 years ago and built my credit to the excellent fico score it is today. |

yes with a very small credit limit. They have to learn how to manage credit. |

Small limit .. secured credit cards are not a bad idea. Maybe not to a 14 year old but someone like 16-18. It will help build their credit and teach a lot about money management. |

No, there not mature enough to handle the responsibilities that come with the card. They'll probably over spend and forget to pay the bills. You shouldn't get a card until you've faced reality and lived on you own for awhile. |

Nope.. I don't think students would fully get the concept of a credit card and come bill time would be totally screwed. |

Yes, and only because credit is important later on after college is over. How else are college students supposed to earn credit to take loans for houses, cars, etc. Restrictions (like a spending limit) are necessary to ensure that they can pay the amount used back. |

if someone's over 18, they should be able to get a credit card. if they act irresponsibly, it's on them. not all students act irresponsibly. |
