Yes, as long as it is a SSL encrypted site. They require that number to prove you acutely have the card in your possession. It's too easy to get some ones credit card number (the one on the front) and use it on line, so now they require all the info, even the billing address needs to be verified. |

As long as it's a reputable site, via a secure connection then it's okay. Places need it sometimes to verify the card, and is your protection in the long run. |

yes you can -But it feels dam scarey I must admit as it has not been asked for that long. You are sort of caught really as if you do not give it, you cannot continue with the purchase.
The 3 digit code will match the numbers and name on the front that is all. I think it is their to stop counterfeiting which of course is rampart these days. So sad really that someone would try to steal my and your hard earned dollars.
I always check the site is secure, just check it is first. A message box will come up as you go through the checkout telling you whether it is a secure site or not.
If you are not happy do not use it. Instead wire the money or
post a cheque. A little more bother but in the end it is safer.
