So this Emerson Financial Group IS a Scam??? My husband wants to go ahead with a loan from them, TODAY??!!?
They asked us to moneygram them $911 and they in return would deposit $5000 tomorrow. We asked how the intrest rate was so low and he said the loan was funded by private investors? He said the 6 month down payment would be a great boost to our credit score. Has anyone done this and it was real??

DON'T DO IT

Paying for a loan is ridiculous

SCAM!!!! ANY company that wants you to "moneygram" them cash in order for them to loan *you* money is CLEARLY out to rip you off!

Your husband is lucky that he has you to keep an eye on this stuff. DON'T let him give away your money!

Repeat after me, LEGITIMATE lenders take all fees out of the proceeds. They do NOT ask the borrower to send them money.

Repeat after me, LEGITIMATE banks have "secured" loans, but you have to go IN PERSON to the bank to open up the secured bank account or hand over the title of your house/car to secure the loan. You do not "secure" a loan by sending in 6 months of payments.

A scammer will say ANYTHING to get their intended victims to part with cash. If your husband stupidly sends $911 today, they'll come back and say that they had to switch private lenders, the new one doesn't like the looks of your credit and you need to send even more money.

Didn't your husband think it was a little odd that he initially sent an email to a @yahoo.com address? Why would a legitimate operation use FREE email addresses? ANYBODY can get a free address.

Among the loan scams we've heard here:
1. The money is for processing fees.
2. The money is for courier fees to deliver the check.
3. The money is for "Insurance."
4. Good faith/security of x months of payments up front.
5. They are Christians and fully licensed by the state/country.
6. Their loan requirements are "different" because they use private lenders.

Keep in mind that there are 4-5 people on Yahoo who report these posts daily. Yahoo makes it a pain to report a post (they do not pull the entire ID and do not appear to block IP addresses) and these scammers can post 10-20 responses in the matter of a few minutes.

If you send the money, you will be $911 poorer.

There is no $5000 loan. They will disappear with your money.

Ask them to take the $911 out of the "loan" and see what they say.

It is indeed a scam called "Advance Fee Fraud". This type of email scam is perpetrated mainly by West African based scammer groups, such as Nigerians.

Find out more about AFF here:
http://www.scamzone.net/forum/view_article_advance_fee_fraud_in_a_nutshell.htm

A detailed 'bait' on a fake loan scammer is here too:
Crooked Carl - The Loan Arranger!
http://www.scamzone.net/forum/view_scammerbaits_daktari_002.htm

Never pay to recieve money, even if the loan were a real one, it would be illegal for the loan company to ask for a fee in advance.

Unsolicited Emails offering loans, shares of great wealth or winning a lottery are ALL frauds.

DO NOT FALL FOR THIS....I did and I feel like a complete idot. I am now out $930.00. I went to Wal Mart to Money Gram the "loan securement" and I was very apprehensive before making the transaction. I brought to the cashier's attention the "loan fraud" alert on the front of the Money Gram Form and explained the situation and she assured me that this was normal and I would be okay. I also brought to her attention that they told me if anyone at Wal Mart asks me why I am sending such a large amount - I do not have to answer. The Wal Mart Cashier then stated that she can't ask what it is for and then proceeded to tell me that it will be okay. Later that day, I called with the Money Gram Ref # and gave it to Karen Adams of Emerson Financial Group, she assured me the money would be in my bank account by 5 pm the following day. The next day, Dave, of Customer Service with Emerson Financial Group contacted me and said I will need to pay an additional $930.00 in order to secure the loan and I advised that I do not have the money and that I wanted my money back. He advised that I will have to wait until their next billing cycle......I'M NOT HOLDING MY BREATH....I am taking this as a lesson well learned and I hope other people read this before they fall for this same scam. According to Money Gram's Fraud Dept., Wal Mart did not follow the proper procedures after I expressed my concerns and explained the entire situation.

I too just got a phone call (ID said Private) that I too was approved for a loan of $5000 & needed to send in four of my monthly payments of $221.44 at 6% interest & wouldn't have to pay the first loan payment until Nov. I told him that I wasn't sending in any money for a secure loan or any other type of loan. If I had $900 to send in I didn't need the loan to start with. This is a SCAM & please no one should ever have to pay ANY money for a loan upfront!!!

I will give you a loan for 5000 at 18.22% interest. Anytime that i can make 18.22% interest is a good day for me, but not for you. I also have some great land in Iraq i will sell you for a song. Interested? Do not do this!!!!!!!

First, before you set off looking for a loan, make absolutely certain that your credit report and credit score are in order. Experts have advised that a significant majority of credit reports actually contain inaccurate negative information. Therefore, by making sure that you credit report is in order and completely accurate<!--you will be in the best position to get the loan that you need at a most favorable rate.By following these pointers, you will be able to make the quest for financing for whatever your particular needs far easier.

Second, do not settle on the first lender that comes down the pike. In the 21st century there can be some significant differences in the interest rates and other fees that are charged from one lender to the next. By spending some time shopping around, you will be in the best position to find a loan at the most-->reasonable rate around. You need to make sure that you understand all aspects of the loan, including charges and fees. Finally, if you are seeking financing, do not overkill. You need to be prudent and responsible when you are in the market for a loan.
