OK hun report it to everyone and their brother, and make sure the states attny in your state and the one in the other state have been notified, get your butt to a lawyer asap so that you can correct this before it gets way out of hand. It can be really really bad if you dont. Take Care hun, it will take awhile but you will make it through. |

Call the SS administration. It could have been a typo but you want to help catch crooks. If income is reported under your number you might have trouble getting your checks. |

The same thing happened to me and I had to make a police report and notify the Social security office. I got a new SS number. |

Inform the Social Security office for one.
Call or write to the Attorney General of the state. They will give you other online contacts to report this. |

First off, see what the Social Security Admin can do if anything. If nothing else, reporting a need to watch will be useful. Second, if you know what state the food stamps were received in, you can call their social workers and report that your ss# is being used in their system and they may be able to look into in and figure out what's going on. Third, report it the 3 major credit unions. If you do it for one, it is forwarded to the other 2. It also might be a good idea to temporarily sign up for one of the credit watch companies to make sure it hasn't been passed around elsewhere. |

the first answer is what sounds good....
my father's own brother was using his name and s.s # you just need to proove -which would be obvious that your not in that state nor have you been on the day they have used your s.s#....
my father had to proove all of this stuff to the FBI-the whole time my uncle was in CA and we were living in Missouri.... |

there is a service advertised on tv that can help protect your identity. I would sign up for this. not sure the name of it - I plan on doing this also, but of course my credit is not very good, so they would have difficulties stealing my identity anyway. hope this helps. |

Call the human resource center that the person used to get food stamp benefits in your name. That would be a good start. From there they could probably tell you what else you would need to do. That's horrible hope everything works out for you!! |

besides reporting to the social security office, contact the 3 credit reporting agencies to ensure that the person isn't getting credit cards in your name
Equifax.com
transunion.com
experian.com
You can put an alert on your credit report, which disables that person from opening cards under your name |
