I was looking at my credit card statement, and there is somthing on there that I didnt purchase, I am really scared, is this going to happen all the time? What should I do? I called my credit card company this morning, and they said they will send me a letter in a few days, but Im scared because I dont want to have to pay for this I didnt even order it and it was almost 200 dollars, how did somebody find my credit card number? Talk to the credit card company, and have them trace the purchase.. likely it's someone Else's purchase that got on your bill by mistake..
you aren't responsible for things you didn't buy...
If it turns out that someone is using your card number, the card company will issue you a new card, and cancel your old one..... |

If you have online access to your credit card you can dispute it and your cc will reverse this charge....they should have reversed it once you inquired about it. Deduct the $200 when you pay them. Also, did the transaction have a description or a number? You can call that number and let them know that charge was unathorized...they might be able to give a name of who made the charge. If you are still feeling weary about all this, you can have your cc company close your current card and issue you a new one with a different account number.
In the meantime, if you don't already access your account online start doing so and monitor your account daily or every other day, you can catch questionable transactions as soon as they post before they hit your statement. |

I don't know how someone got your number... Is it possible it is a purchase you made in another item name?
I've purchased things before, and they hold different names for discreet purposes... Like a hair product I buy, it does not show up as the actual product. It caught me by surprise once too. I was like "what is this!" lol...but then realized it was my purchase.

It's good that you're looking at your statement. The dispute process is different with each credit card company, and they should have explained the process to you. If you still have questions you should call them again and be sure you get your concerns addressed. What usually happens is that when you dispute the charge it goes on hold for a period of time while it's being investigated. Since you didn't buy this product you will not have to pay for it. |
