All of them are bad. They will all saddle you with debts and make you bankrupt.
Avoid getting one. |

Go to www.orchardbank.com they will suggest which card is best for you before you apply for one. They do a soft pull on your credit which doesn't count as many points as a hard pull. Good luck!!! |

It's not that all credit cards are bad, but consumers should be careful about few things while using credit cards:
# 1 or 2 credit cards are not bad.
# Read the fineprint while signing the contract.
# Know more about Universal Default Clause.
Credit cards are for emergency, not to buy your daily commodities. You may look at bankrate.com for a good credit card company. |

There's tons of 'good' credit cards available-- it really depends on what you're looking for. You can start here with a great list of options:
http://www.asapcreditcard.com/0-apr.html
The Platinum Edition Visa Card from First National is a great offer. It has an extremely long 0% intro APR of 15 months on purchases and balance transfers. Plus, it has a competitive ongoing APR of 11.99%.
Or, consider the Chase Platinum Card. If you're worried about being approved for any reason-- this card has extremely high approval rates. Plus, it has a 0% APR for 12 months on purchases and balance transfers.
Of course, you should compare other offers as well. These are just 2 options...
Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK! |

Small steps like paying your bills on time and using only part of the credit available to you. Also use your credit cards for making small payments regularly, so that it is reflected in your credit record. More tips available at http://www.acreditlibrary.com/buildcredit.html |

American Express...particularly the card they call "Clear".
No late fees, over limit fees, annual fees, balance transfer fees, etc. Their motto for that card is..."No fees at all" pretty much. I've had their card for like 9-10 months. It started off with a $2,000 credit line. Then they upped it to $3,800 at my request...then they upped it to $5,000 at my request. Not bad for such a short time. With many companies, you wait years for that. Not too many companies will do that. I have a credit card through my bank that I've had a lot longer, and it doesn't even have that credit line on it. Plus, AmEx gives you a $25 gift card for every qualifying $2,500 in purchases for some things (which you'll eventually spend anyway...why not get something free for it?!?) And no...I'm not some big career person making some insane salary each year. Just a typical person that has their own struggles, and I don't make that much per year. The high credit line is extremely good for your credit (regardless of what others may say), if you keep the balance reasonable and payments on time.
What I personally like to do is...if I'm going to buy something at the store, get gas, etc. with cash anyway...I put it on a credit card. Then I go home and immediately get online and make a payment for that same amount that I would have spent in cash anyway. Those payments keep you from just charging and not paying, reduce interest that you would pay on the amount you put on the card, and it looks good to have a ton of payments on your credit card accounts. They love that. If you use self-control in what you buy with them when you don't have the cash...you won't get up some huge limit that you can't reasonably pay off.
Whatever credit card you decide to get...watch the "annual fee" and make sure it is $0. Many companies have fees up to $80+ dollars a year just to *have* the card even if you don't use it or don't have a balance on it.
Edit: And to the person who said, "they are all bad"...I'd hate to see your credit. You must not have any credit. And therefore couldn't purchase a house, car, etc. if you wanted to, if you didn't have the cash up front. Because credit is important...and you'll be "leeching" off from a family member or friend to get something all of your life, if you play the "credit is bad for you" game. Ask the older people who have terrible credit...who end up getting things in somebody else's name because they can't get it themself. Credit cards will not make you 'bankrupt' if you learn how to manage your money and spend accordingly. Just because a card has a high limit doesn't mean you have to spend a lot on it. |

Citi Bank has a Upromise Mastercard card where one percent of your total purchases gets put into an account to go toward college expenses. It may not sound like a lot but over the years it does add up. Especially if you put big things like vacation expenses on it and then just pay the bill as soon as it arrives so you don't incur any interest. It may not be what you need but it was just an idea. |
