If it's a credit company, like Discover, JCPenney, and such, then YES, it does negatively affect your score.

But if you just personally check it, then NO. Has no effect.

Bug
I think it's only when you pull your credit.

asking-a-question
true - whenever you apply for credit, your score will decrease 2-3 points ... unless there are multiple credit inquiries in a 30-day period, then your credit score will drop 20 points ... exception is mortgages ... multiple mortgage inquiries within 30 days will have no impact on your credit score

periwinkle
No it is true! The more people that check your credit lowers your score. I lost out on a loan because advertisers I DID NOT give permission to checked my credit. I had 23 companies in TWO months check my credit with all three credit companies. I thought that would be illegal but it's not! My credit was not that bad but because of these 23 people it raised a red flag with legitimate companies I GAVE permission to. It looked like I had been turned down by these 23 people and it gave the impression I was a BAD RISK!

false, this type of verification only for analysis your credit
worthness.

mrssainsarg
That is very true. Everytime an inquiry is made it lowers your score and also strays on your report as well. That way say your applying for a credit card and they pull your credit and they see you've applied at 5 other places it gets taken into consideration. Either you will have way to much debt or why don't they have one, why are they applying with us. So to answer your question, yes it will go down.
