US Bank calling, harrassing, threatning me?
I received a call from someone saying that unless I paid them for a payday loan that I would be going to jail in 24 hrs. I told them they needed to send me something in the mail validating this debt and they refused. I know this is all a scam as I have researched it. They keep calling my cell phone every 30 seconds. The icing on the cake is this-He read off my SS# and said since I was not complying..he was going to take out 5 loans in my name.

What do I do????
Additional Details
Let me also add this

They are calling from a restricted number and they refuse to give me a number. I have spoken with the attorney generals office and they confirmed this is a scam.

To those who have told me to pay my bill....I have paid off all of my bills. 3 years ago, I took out a payday loan over the internet. I paid it off (I have proof). I don't know if my info was sold or what.

Just go to the FTC web site I have listed here to file a complaint, they will take it from there.

https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

Next step is to send a FRAUD ALERT to any one the the three credit reporting agencies. I have included a sample to use, just fill in the blanks. You only need to send one letter to any one of the three CRA.s, they will notify each-other. Send it certified mail/return receipt and enclose a copy of your drivers license for verification.

Dear Sir or Madam:
It appears I have been a victim of identity theft and am writing to request that an initial fraud alert be immediately placed in my credit file so that no new credit will be approved or issued until my identity is first verified by the lender.
My Social Security number is _______________. My date of birth is _____________. I am aware that this alert will expire in 90 days if I do not provide another written request asking for it to be extended. Sincerely,

Report it to the police. They can trace the number and arrest the person that is harassing you (and possibly stealing your identity.)

PUT A FREEZE ON YOUR CREDIT

Jenna
The best thing to do is make sure you take a good look at your credit report. When they have this type of information on you they will hold it and open up accounts years later. There is a service that alerts you when ever credit is opened in your name and actually does the work for you to get your identity back. Not just tells you what to do. You should do soemthing about it now.

Check out this site!

You could report to your local authorities. Also, get in tough with credit agencies and tell them that you think your identity might have been stolen based on the phone calls. Try and record the phone calls too so that you have evidence of this extortion. Google the phone number that shows up on your call log to find out where it traces back to. All sorts of things. But if someone has your SS# you should also contact the Social Security office and let them know.

They cannot do that. The fair debt collection practices act is very clear that a credit cannot threaten you with an action that they can't legally follow through on. I would call you local attorney general.

Obviously you identity has been stolen. Next time they call, say it is the wrong number. Through them off the trail.

Get your credit report and make sure the information is right. Ask them to put an identity theft aleart on your account.

call the police!!! if they have your identity this is very serious!

lildude211us
get the number and go call the police.

If you are sure that the SSN is yours, talk to the police because it could already be a case of identity theft.

Go to the police and file a report today. Is his number saved in your caller ID. If so give it to the police. Let them deal with him. If he calls again tell him that you have filed a police report. The police will probably be able to trace the call. Call US Bank and tell them about this. Tell them that a police report has been filed and tell them what the guy on the phone told you. Tell them in no uncertain circumstances if these calls do not stop you will file a lawsuit. I am sorry this is happening to you. What a scum bag! If they won't validate this debt it writing then it doesn't exist. Nip it in the bud today. Good luck!

I saw your additional information. Call your phone provider and see if they can block restricted numbers, or change your cell phone number. I would still tell him next time he calls a police report has been filed against him. I would do the police report anyway. He deserves everything he gets.
