Jacoby | Was $2,200 in debt - Now $1100!!? |
I was $2,200 in debt but I got a job working full time at $11.50hr. I have paid off half my debts so far, but Was forced to leave my job, due to problems with one of the supervisors and they were not going to let me switch departments. I dont know what to do, because it took me 3 months to find work, and there are almost no openings within 40 miles of where I live. What can i do to keep making payments on my debts, other than looking for another job. I am still looking for a new job, and even if I have to, I will try to go back to my old job that pays the $11.50.
ANY IDEAS?
Oh and I am selling personal stuff on E-Bay such as computers and such..

That's great that you are trying to get rid of debt...you can look for ways to save money and cut living expenses...like not buying that cup of coffee in the morning, making your own lunch/dinner, etc...and applying the saved money to the debt. |

Get your old job back if you can, then start looking for a new job. Stick with the old job, even if you are unhappy, until you find a new job. You are doing the right thing by paying off your debt, but you can't keep paying unless you have money. You won't have money unless you have a job. Even if you have to take a minimum wage job, you're still making more than you would if you didn't work at all. |

When you say you were forced to leave my job, do you mean you were fired or laid off? If you were laid off, you may be able to get unemployment, which you should file for, anyway, unless you left of your own free will.
Take ANY job you can find, fast food, Wal-mart, whatever, rather than go penniless. Changing shifts, not getting along with supervisors -- when you have bills to pay, these are never good reasons to leave a job. You should never leave one job until/unless you have another one all lined up. Good luck. |

I would call your debtors and let them know about your job and that you are trying to pay them. If they know this they might work something out with you. |

Jobs = money. Other than selling your stuff, you have to sell yourself. Those are the assets you have to work with. Have you checked unemployment out?

eBay is a good fallback resource. However, during this Christmas season do not count on a good return on your auctions since everyone is saving this season. I hate recommending this, but you may have to resort to asking family. Since it is close to Christmas, ask that your presents be cash gifts (actually state that you would like to receive cash). |
