We keep receiving credit card applications for my 10-month old son in the mail. Should we apply?

no, that would be ID theft, and Fraud. You should call the companies and tell them that they are sending the applications to a 10 month old, and have them remove him.

Barry auh2o
I used to get credit card apps for my father in law,who died.
Man, did I have fun with them.
Adrress if address show here is not correct.?
:" Section D, lot # 233, St Charles cemetery."
Current employer. :"God!" Employer's phone number, " Leave a message in any church"
Best time to call"., After the Last Judgement."

I wonder what their reaction was?

Hell yeah! But make sure you fill in the forms with his *correct* date of birth. If it's Freepost to send the application then add a house brick. This should get their attention.

You're kidding.....right?

Apply, rack the heck out of it and let the thieving credit card companies try to collect.

YOU SEE WHAT I AM SAYING, THEY DO NOT DO ANY RESEARCH, THEY WILL PEDAL THIS CRAP ALL DAY LONG TO ANYONE AND ANYBODY. THEY DON'T CARE, THEY ARE GREEDY THIEVES. TO HADES WITH THEM ALL.

Not unless your son can pay the monthly statement at this tender age. A few years back, I got a credit card application for my dog. I quickly realized that the dog was indigent and would not be able to make payments, or even use the card, so I shredded it.

A side note to Lee. I was kind to my dog regarding his credit file. Even though he would not really care, I didn't want his credit file besmirched.

Not unless you want your infant son to have a credit history of 18 years when HE finally decides to apply for credit. You may be hurting his chances of credit when he grows up and wants HIS own credit

Oh yeah it's also illegal- identity theft!!!!

koreangurl
Are you serious?!?!?!
A BABY with a Credit Card??? Why would you want to apply? You want to put your own son in debt before he even knows what a credit card is?

moneywise
Why would you? Your son can't legally sign it, you'd be stealing his identity. Don't use credit except for a house. Nobody needs to be an indentured servant to their credit cards. This is crazy!

i would say yes but they would probably get u for fraud.

remember the Married w/ children episode where Buck the dog got a credit card. lol

you're not seriously considering applying, are you? You should let your son grow up and make his own decisions about his credit. it would be good for you to educate him on the importance of credit, but I don't think you should apply before he's old enough to use it AND pay for it!

no - it would be considered identity theft.

PhoebeBB
No, that would be illegal. Just tear them up or write “Return to Sender” on them.

there are two sides you should consider. Side one: You could because it would build his credit if you pay the card off every month. Side two is its identity theft. Also how would you explain to the lady at the check out that you can't provide ID to prove the signature because it is your baby's card. Be the better parent and shred the offers.
