What's a good 1st credit card for a college student?
Something for a college student with no credit (first credit card). Something with a relatively low APR, and 0% APR for the first 12 months. Cash rewards are fine. Wouldn't really use flight/travel points. Prize awards are ok too. Just want something with the lowest possible APR. It would be really good if you could speak from experience, or could offer a few options.
Additional Details
Thanks for the info. Can anyone suggest a specific credit card, or tell me what a "good" APR is?

since it's your first credit card and are just stablishing credit you won't have that many choices but there are a few that you could start with then move up in a few months if you make your payments, I would recomend Citibank student card, check out www.fastcreditcardapprovals.com and go under student cards, good luck

As someone else answered, chase is very good. Most offers they give are for 0% for at least a year or so, and you can choose your rewards, like wether you might points, milage, or cash back. Washington Mutural also offers some good deals, I believe that was the first card I had in college. They also raised my credit limit when I asked because I didn't have enough money for books. Good luck, and be careful because credit affects you for a long time. :)

Any card with no annual fee that the student only charges what they can afford to pay in full each month.

No credit typically means higher APR. It is very unlikely that a student can get a first credit card with 0% APR, unless someone with good credit co-signs.

The first credit card I got that was perfect for a college student was a chase card... research what they offer on their site.

One that has no annual fee, a low credit limit, so you don't over charge. A low or the lowest APR rate is what you look for. Lots of them have one that starts at 0 or low and then skyrockets as soon as you charge something ~ then get stuck cause you can't pay it off every month. Cash back would be the way to go I think. It would be like getting money off on whatever you purchase.

A good first card for a college student would be a DEBIT card.

bm
Anything with no annual fee or etc.

You don't need to care about the apr, just pay it off at the end of the month.
