What's a good credit card to get?
My Sears card is absolutely horrible with their interest rate. I am going to pay off the remaining balance and try to get another credit card. I woudl love to close out Sears but I was told through someone else that my credit score will drop (not sure by how much).

There is no such thing as a good credit card. They all will get you into debt.
They all can raise you interest rate anytime for any reason.
They all have outrageous over the limit and late fees.

Don't obsess with the fico score. It will get you nothing but debt.
You have to borrow money and make payments on time to get a high score so that you can go and borrow more money and pay more interest and make more payments. It's a stupid game. It makes no sense.

If you pay as you go.
If you live on less money than you make.
You will have money.

The only time you might have to borrow money is for a home. You can do that without a fico score. It's called manual underwriting. It's not a sub prime loan. It's the way loans were givin' before all the fico score worship. You can get the lowest interest rates available.

New cars are a rip off. They go DOWN in value and you lose money as soon as you drive off the lot. They keep going DOWN in value every yr.

Save up for a good used cash car.

No payments = cash in the bank.

None.Never spend what you don't have.

None of them are any good.

Pay cash and get away from the plastic.

If you have to have one, get a Visa or MC but pay very close attention to your interest rates. If you miss a payment they can balloon to a huge rate.

Cut up the Sears, but do not close it. The longer you have established credit the better. Get a credit card with the lowest apr you can find and make sure and read all the fine print. Most have a 0% introductory rate that shoots up after that time is over.

I would go to a local credit union and apply for a credit card. Their interest rates are usually lower than those offers you recieve in the mail. Dont pay over 15%. Thats just insane. always pay on time and never go over your limit. They can increase your rate for pretty much no reason and charge you fees. When you get a card, never let the balance get close to your credit limit. Keeping cards nearly maxed out lowers your score. Pay off your balance each month. Credit cards are awful. You are basically throwing money away just to buy something you cant afford to begin with.

pay it off and if you must have a credit card then go with visa or mastercard, they are taken everywhere, but really all crdit cards are good for is throwing away your hard earn money every month with the high interest rates.

Trav
mastercard/visa.

dont settle for anything over 13%.

credit limit of at least $1000

no annual fee.

DONE.

Close the Sears card.

Get Visa or Mastercard. Shop around for a low rate and rewards program.
