What's a good way to build credit?
I would like to build credit so I can take out a loan. I don't have any credit now, and I found a house I'm interested in, so i need to build some credit as fast as possible. Any suggestions. Thanks

If you have none, building credit is not a fast thing to do, it takes time. If you cannot get a small secured loan or a credit card, get a secured credit card, where you put down a couple hundred dollars and your credit limit is tied to this amount. Use it and pay it on time, it will build credit and you can eventually open an unsecured credit card. You will need to be patient. If you have already found a house, there is no way to build credit within the month or so it takes to close on a mortgage, but you may be able to find a lender to grant you a mortgage-it will not be cheap, and they will probably go through your finances with a fine tooth comb. You will have to prove beyond a doubt that you can afford the house payments and expenses like taxes, insurance and maintenance. If you are this new to the credit world, are you certain you want to take on a house?

Go to your bank and get a secured credit card. You deposit a set amount and that amount will be your spending limit. As soon as you get the bill pay the whole thing. You don't always have to pay the whole amount but...... It makes you look a lot more desirable to other credit card companies and the like. For a home loan you may have to go and talk with your bank or a bank and find out the fastest way to expedite your non credit woes.

Halt what the person above said, not true.

Honestly, this is the most bass ackwards way the world works, but the best way to earn credit is to get a credit card. What I would do is you can turn your ATM card into a credit card, and instead of using it as a debt card, use it as a credit card that would still automatically pull from your checking account. You'll have to sign for things instead of entering pin numbers, but it counts as a card.

Apply for a credit card, which will give you a card much more readily than a bank will give you a loan, and just begin putting small and regular payments on it, nothing much and nothing important. Set it up to automatically pay something you do already, like if you have an EZPass (or other brand instant toll paying pass). Just make sure you absolutely pay it off at the end of every month in full. Also, if you do not have any bills, mostly phone and utilities, this is why. If you are young and have these bills but your parents are putting it in their name, have them transfer it to your name and pay it that way. Even if your parents are still giving you the money for it, it will at least appear in your name and SS number and begin giving you a credit history.

Last but not least, if you really need the loan, and your parents have good credit, see if they are willing to undersign the loan with you which will help you get the loan in the first place. Then it will be in your name as well and help you build a credit history with having the money to boot. Just don't ever miss a payment or you'll have your parents to answer to.

Building credit takes time... and patience. It's not going to happen over night! The first step is to establish a line of credit somewhere-- and make regular, on-time payments. If you're trying to build your credit, here are some credit cards that might help:

http://www.asapcreditcard.com/poor-credit.html

Although these offers tend to have higher interest rates (and additional fees) when compared to 'standard' credit cards, they'll give you the opportunity to build and improve your credit score over time...

Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!

It's not really possible to get good credit really fast. But, for starters, get a credit card. You might want to get a credit report just in case - it's possible that you have credit (good or bad) that you werent even aware of. I didnt think I had credit either, but I looked it up and I had a 730!

its a slow process...sorry...but pay your bills, dont run up your credit cards...if yoiu have no credit cards quickly apply for some then do not use them

You need a line of credit from a source that absolutely reports to a credit monitoring agency. The best bet is a secured loan from a bank. Put some money in a CD, then take out a loan using the CD as collateral. It won't cost you much (the interest rate paid on the CD will help offset the interest you pay to the bank.)

A method for building credit for which you don't have to qualify at all is to have another person with a existing credit card add you as an authorized user/card holder. You will get a credit card for that account and reporting for payments goes into your credit file. But this has serious risks -- late payments hurt your credit score even if you never use the card, and more seriously your legally liable for the full debt on that credit card even if you never actually use it. So be very careful with whom you make this deal!

You aren't going to build credit overnight - it simply can't be done. So if you want to buy your house in a month you are probably going to have to find a cosigner. It typically takes a bare minimum of 3 months for a credit reporting cycle to catch up with you.

I put a link in that has good information. You are essentially starting at ground zero -- almost the same as a person after bankruptcy. So, read the article and just filter out "after bankruptcy" and substitute "the no credit history"! :) (seriously, it's a good article.)

depeneds on your age i guess, get a sercured credit card from a local hsbc bank or bank of america, use it pay it off every month, and wow u have credit, or you can get the house , first time house buying program, your gonna get a high interest ratte though BUT after a year you can refinance, by thtat time the will have reported to the credit buero. Hope that helps, aslo if your dependable get a co sigher thats a big help, lowers your interest rate but if you mess up the go down with you..
