Seeings you probably don't have any credit applying for one is going to be hard. My advice is that you don't get one. Do you have a job? Can you afford to make payments on them ? If you're bank account isn't direct deposit then you don't have to put you're money in it open a new one. Are the parts really needed ? My advice is to think about it before you get one. I don't know if you can pay with a money order. Make sure you get a good interest and APR rates too. Good Luck! |

Credit card issued to students are usually the worst kind because they come with the highest interest rate possible. The best credit card for students or people who are not working is no credit card. Or if you have one it is supposed to be for emergencies. $700 is a lot of money and if you cannot pay it off in the first month then you will find that the interest that will accumulate can go on forever. So unless you are planning on paying off the $700 in the first month then don't do it. Oh and you can pay it with any legal form of payment, not cash though. When the bill comes you can send payment with a money order. Be sure to put all account numbers and necessary info on the money order. my advice is to buy stuff when you can pay cash only. |

Cash. Credit cards just get you into debt and you end up oweing too much money. Or maybe a Bank card that draws money from your checking or savings acount. Only problem is that if you take more out than you had it will cost you extra.. Many overdraft charges are $30 per incedent. That can build up fast |

Honestly, none. They try to get all of us with high interest rates bc we simply don't have enough credit (for most of us, anyways)...but I would get one with a small limit (ie $200) so you won't overspend. Learn from me! |

Unless you have a steady part time job I would recommend not getting a credit card. Most likely when you get out of college you will already have student loans, why compile this with additional debt. |

The best way to use credit card, in general, is:
1. Get a good rewards card (or 2)
2. Funnel most/all of your normal spending through your cards without max'ing them out
3. Pay off your balance(s) in full every month
That way you'll:
1. Build your credit quickly
2. Avoid interest
3. Earn rewards
A few of the best rewards cards for college students are:
- Citi mtvU card - a great rewards card for students -- especially those who spend a lot at restaurants and entertainment (5% rewards in those categories)
- Citi Driver's Edge for Students -- 3% rewards at gas stations, grocery stores, and drug stores; 1% everywhere else.
- Fidelity Investments® 529 College Rewards® American Express® Card - 1.5% rewards on all spending; goes into a 529 account for college tuition
- Discover® Open Road for Students Card
You can use this rewards calculator to see which of those cards (or others) will pay you the most for your normal spending profile:

As far as I know, none of those student rewards cards require good credit. |

DO NOT get a card for college students. Get a secured card or something else.
I fell into that trap at 19 yrs old. And I didn't use my card either. I paid it off in full actually after each use.
But then, a year or two later, I got sucked in because I had things I needed to pay for (car repairs and a lawyer bill) and because it's a college student type card, the interest rate is INSANE!
And that's how they catch you. If you need to get a card, don't look for the ones like this. Look for one that you deposit money into and you use it. Kind of like a debit card but it's not.
My advice: If you don't have cash, you can't afford it. |
