You can avoid it, but remember this:
Most employers now do a credit check before hiring. You could find yourself without a job some day or miss out on getting a good one, not to mention that you would never be able to get a mortgage. |

the best way to avoid paying off a loan is not to take it out in the first place. |

Why would you want to do this? You wanted the loan, or agreed to be on the loan...why not pay it back? |

Pay the loan back- Period.
It will follow your credit rating for a very very long time if you do not.
I screwed up my credit when I was really young, and it took years to fix.
I was almost 30 before I could buy a house, because of something I did when I was 19-21.
Your credit is one of the few things that can ruin your future, no matter how much money you make in the coming years.
Pay the bank.... otherwise you will wish to God in the coming years that you did. Promise. |

The only way not to pay off a long is to claim bankruptcy whcih freeze any thign you can do credit wise for at least 7 years. If it only like 3,000 dollars it not worth it but if it like 40,000 it might be worth looking in to it. There a lot of stuff you have to meet befor you can do it too. You jsut cant deccide to go and do in one day. I learned about this in my Eco class. |

You can delay paying it off for years, but you'll have to constantly change your phone and address. I did it successfully for 7 years. Pre-paid cells phones are the best, no personal info to setup, cheap to buy and easy to change numbers. Personal mail-boxes (the ones at mini-malls) are best used for home address, just pretend your box number is an apartment number. If you got a bank loan for your car and are in risk of a repo, park the car a mile or so away from home, randomly moving it every day. Also, park away from work. If its a house, well you can't hide a house.
Now, you can do this, its a lot of work and they'll catch up with you which means you have to keep doing it over and over.
In the end you still owe them no matter what. Depending how much you do, they may just give up collecting and sue you instead. In which case you also have to pay their legal fees. In many cases the trial will be set and completed without you even knowing. You can dodge that too.
But you'll never get away with it forever. |

Chapter 7 is the only way to wipe out debt completely, its a long drawn out process. I am watching someone going through it right now. You have to prove you don't have the assets to pay it back and don't feel can ever earn enough to pay back. If you have any assets like savings account, land, a house or a car they can sell them to help pay part of it back. But if you have none of these things the court will probably grant it. (btw you do have to pay a lawyer up front to process all this paperwork and her's cost like 2K!! So even if you get out from under your debt you will still owe the lawyer and I don't think he will process the bankruptcy if you don't pay him first). |

Why would you want to ruin your credit for many years. Just pay the loan off. If money is short, call them and ask for a lower payment plan, most banks will help you to pay off the loan. Don't run from your responsibilities. They can do something to you, find you and mess with your credit for many many years to come..... |
