There are several credit cards out there you can get depends what your credit score is. I don't like Discover because I can't take it with me when I'm oversea. If you like to talk to a banker, local bank also has credit cards. You definitely have to deal by phone with most major credit card companies, not just BOA. If you use the card responsibly, you will have a decent credit card. Lots of credit cards have world points program that you earn points while using it. It's totally free.
American Express has fewer acceptance because of the inter change fee. Visa and Master are accepted almost everywhere around the world.
Credit card companies also determine what kind of rate that they offer bases on how often you use the card. Are you profitable to the company? How much interest you paid in previous year? Are you a rate surfer ? (that means you constantly transfer balances from one company to another to avoid paying interest) If you don't use the card often or when you use it, you only charge few dollars here and there. Despite the fact that you have a high score, that doesn't mean that you will have the best possible rate.
I have a customer who charged an average $10,000 a month on her card and she paid back on time but not always paid it off. Those types of customers that credit card companies love and bend over backward for them.
Citibank has lots of card with variable rate. Before you applied for any cards, read their terms and conditions throughly. |

STAY AWAY from Bank of America! My old company was bought out by them, and I was only a customer for less than a month because they were so awful. BOA cards are also easy for your credit to get stolen. Check out credit cards your bank may offer because you can easily get in touch with their staff, and they may offer you deals like several months with low/no interest. I switched to a Visa card with BB&T bank and love it because I can easily transfer money between my bank and credit accounts. If I have any problems, I can speak to a bank employee directly instead of going through those awful automated menus. American Express is a great card, and a lot of times they give you good perks! I also have heard their security is very good from someone who works in internet business. |

Theres no definitive answer.
Credit Unions offer lower rate cards for members usually
Citi has some good cards, some bad ones, the low rate cards dont have rewards programs
Amex is harder to get, with lower credit lines to start with, and their rates arent competitive, but the service is best of any company
DiscoverCard rarely increases your limit or reduces your apr, but they have pretty good customer service and are good at reversing fees.
Basically, watch the credit card offers you get in the mail. Anything over 12% is crap, and anything without a free rewards program is crap. You should also get 0% on purchases and balance transfers for at least 1 year. <those are my personal stipulations on any card i have> |

While availing a credit card, it is necessary to check the credit card rate. This rate plays an inevitable part, as based on this rate your payment amount is decided. Various credit cards are available with different rate. Every time, consumers try to choose a credit card at a lower interest rare.
Most of the time, it is seen that while choosing a credit card, people generally check whether the rate is low or not. But a low rate cannot be the only consideration in availing a credit card. Besides rate, a consumer should heed in other factors as well. Remember, though various credit card companies entice consumers with low interest rates; at the same time, they include various hidden costs and charges with a credit card as well. So, do not only verify the interest rate, but also consider other things while availing a credit card.
Many a time, credit card companies offer low rate for a specific period of time. Such low rates are considered as an introductory offer of various companies. In such cases, check how long the offer will last. After the period is over, verify what the interest rate will be, whether it will be affordable for you or not etc. Check out a list of popular low interst rate credit card list at: http://www.credit-card-gallery.com/0_Intro_APR.html |

Unfortunately the vast majority of credit hards do have high rates, if you carry a balance. If you pay them off in-full each month you'll be OK
Another option is American Express or Pre-paid cards
For American express online go to http://www.how-is-your-credit.info/Amex.htm
For Pre-paid cards go to http://www.how-is-your-credit.info/pre-paid.htm
There are links to other kinds of cards to if those aren't what you need.
Either way the important thing is to not charge more than you can afford to pay off each month. |

Citi® Bronze®/AAdvantage® MasterCard®is by far the most widely used card. It is essential for regular travelers with average credit. Its reward program gives you an additional mile per $2 spent on the card. You can collect up to 25,000 miles annually, and can be redeemed for flights on partner airlines, hotel accommodations throughout the world, and car rentals. Additional benefits are: zero liability for unauthorized transactions, travel accident insurance and various Internet account associated services. The card does not charge any annual fee. But the drawback is the minimum APR cap for cash advances, set at 19.99%. |
