We don't have politicians with enough guts to do what it takes even if the public has the guts to wade through the muck to get debt free. The first step is a freeze of purchases of anything this not mandatory.
Zero import of oil, operate on oil from our country only. Develope systems that operate on alternate power sources. Grow and eat crops from our soil, vacation in our country for the first two years or face super heavy taxes. ($1,000 tax on a plane ticket from the US) to elsewhere.
