It does help to build a credit record and increase your credit score by showing that you are responsible with credit, but
most people just get into trouble with them. |

If you are someone who will want to borrow money (use debt) in the future, establishing what is called credit history is very important. Credit cards are a way of building said credit history. Proper management of the funds available on the credit card show lenders that you may be responsible with money.
I, however, don't recommend using credit cards. Too many times life happens and people are stuck with credit card debt they can't handle. Some believe that you HAVE to use debt when purchasing cars or other large items, and this just isn't the case. Cash is just as good; people just don't want to wait and save up. The only debt I ever recommend people get in to is house debt. And you don't have to have a FICO score in order to get funds for a house. If you have been employed at the same job for 2 years, made on time payments to rent and utilities for two years, then lenders who do their own manual underwriting can be used.
I always first recommend people purchase only what they can afford with cash. If they do decide to use debt, then I recommend they use it sparingly, and always pay it off as fast as they can. |

You need a credit card to begin a financial future. If you ever want to buy a house or a car, or something of major value, creditors look at your credit report to see if you have good credit. They look to see if you have payed your bills on time etc. It is good to have a credit card or two that you use and pay the balance on time to create a good credit score for yourself. |

Well, it can help you to get money faster, but what you have to pay off later is ridiculous. I would never recommend one. Also, it gives you good credit if you pay everything on time. |
