What are the best ways of obtaining credit ?
I have no credit card, don't make much $ but am very good @ saving up $. What should I do ? Should I save a few hundred dollars & then ask the bank to lend me the $ & then pay them back in a certain amount of time ? I'd like to have a credit card to be able to buy tickets online or even through ticketmaster. I'd ONLY use it for concert tix. What's the best way to go about in doing that ?
Additional Details
I save up for things. Like, I've saved up $ to go see the Goo Goo Dolls & even an extra $40 for merchandise. But I doubt I'd be able to pay only $130 for Countryfest (cheap price) for the last wk'd of June. Thurs (part of that day), Fri, Sat & Sun (part of Sun ?) I already have a lot of things to save up for. I plan on being able to have $100 to spend on a 35 mm camera (or save up for a digi cam) & I'm putting away a certain amount for Christmas every payday + possibly $50/payday for a pr of new glasses by the end of the yr... loooots of envelopes to save up for all these things I wanna save up for !!!

Open one credit card with a small limit, make sure you are never late with payments, and to raise your fico score when you make your payments pay at least twice the minimal payment. Keep your balance below 35% of the credit limit. Sometimes you need a credit card, just be careful not to abuse it. Also when you have a credit established this way it's makes a lender more likely to you give you a loan for a car, home etc.. and with a lower interest rate as opposed to if you didn't have established credit.

I think that if you get a credit card with a very low limit, say $250.00 and you don't max it out and keep make your credit card payments on to you will be good. But be CAREFUL, because you say that you are just going to use it for ticket concert purchases, you say that now, but in the long run ,you could be purchasing unecessary things with your credit card. Use yoour credit wisely!!

It is much easier to get any kind of credit if your don't need it. A good bank balance, good job, and real property help more than anything. Ask for application at your bank.

if ur good at saving and only want a credit card for that why not check into a secured credit card..lotsa banks have them..i hope i was a lil helpful good luck

I find the easiest way to get a credit card is by saying u are a student, then u automaticaly get one because they think you will be worth money some day (but it only works if u actually are a student). So spend money on the credit card and pay it back in full each month. This builds good credit cause then the companies know u are good for the money. Thats all i know really, thats how i have built good credit. But beware! DO NOT FALL INTO THE 'BUY NOW PAY LATER' scenario. Because that gives u terrible credit and can put u into major major financial debt. So BE CAREFUL!

get a credit card, buy some stuff then pay the bill on time

TheOracleAtDelphi
why don't you just pay cash for the concert tix? seems a heck of a lot less stressful.

It actually depends on how old you are...the younger you are, lets say around 18 to early 20's then the lower your credit card limit is. It also depends on your credit score the higher it is the more the creditors trust you and Im assuming you dont have much credit background yet. If you really have the strong desire to apply for one then go for a student credit card(www.citicards.com) first, they usually have it around your school (if you're in college) and the chances of being denied is pretty low because like I said its a student card and they know you dont really have credit history. The spending limit will probably be like around 300 the minimum but it will increase eventually as long as you pay them on a timely manner. Another thing never go for the retail credit cards such as macy's,target,etc...it will put a big hole in your pocket because of the interest...Just be careful in making your decisions when it comes to using credit or best thing is just use cash.

PS: Why a credit card though? Why not a debit card? Open up a checking account usually requires a dollar for the initial deposit and then ask your personal banker for a debit card linked to your checking account. So all the money that you saved will be kept in the bank and you use it only when you really need it. you can still buy stuff online with a debit card minus the interest if you're using a credit card only difference is its taking out automatically the money from your checking account so you just have to make sure that you have enough money to cover for your purchases. Its better that way, you pay instantly, no interest, no bills, no hassle for you.
