Credit card debt is inevitable when we cross our financial limits. Spending more than what you can earn is sure-shot way to get into debt. Credit card helps us in increasing our purchasing power beyond our income levels and soon becomes a good reason for credit card debt. This credit card debt has high interest rates, strict repayment rules and harsh penalties on default. And if things really go wrong on credit card front, there are blemishes on credit history.
An average person in United States carries around 4 cards. The problem of managing debts from a number of cards can be overwhelming. It is difficult to separately keep track of repayment dates, interest rates, and monthly installments for all the cards. This often leads to missing payments for some credit card and being slapped with late payment fees. Credit card debt consolidation brings welcome relief to people suffering from this particular problem. Majority of the banks, financial institutions and building societies provide credit card debt consolidation loan. A person can consolidate his credit card debts online also. Spend on things in your need list, do not spend things you want, like leisure things. I know once the richest man in Hong Kong (Lee) once said, if you waste a cent, you're wasting that cent of money. But if you need to pay a million for that particular thing, then pay it because it is worth it. You must also know what is liabilities and assets. Then you will not be in debt easily. One book that i will recommend you to read is " Rich Dad, Poor Dad", then you will be truly financial free. With Best Regard. |

Never use on credit card to pay for another. Look at credit cards as a way to build credit, not "free money". By something nice with one then pay it of over each month and don't use it again until you have cleared that balance. Full proof plan for me. |

Cancel all your credit cards, consolidate what debt you have into a personal loan to be paid off in the shortest period you can afford, get yourself a debit card, add some value to it by a SMALL boost from your personal loan just to start you off, and whenever you make a payment on your loan, also make a payment to your debit card for your personal use, and make sure you gift yourself the value that you think you've earned for that period, no exceptions.
You deserve to be able to spend on yourself, but not to excess. If your looking for things to enjoy, enjoy silence, space, and the simple things in life. |

This probably isn't what you want to hear, but if you cant pay cash for it dont buy it! If you do want a card though never except a more then 2000 dollar limit on it. That way the monthly payment would be manageable enough,,,,,,, or have some self control. I only ever use my card if I need to pay a bill that I dont have cash for. I never shop with it and I never take out cash on it. it works for me! |

Unless you are buying something over the internet or a large purchase dont use one. And if you do, have the funds ready to pay it immediately off. If you cant afford it, dont buy it ! |

I was once drowned in credit card. And i was only say 15?
It was a credit card that wasnt mine. Somebody lended it to me legally. It really isnt easy to finally stop using it. Its a routine. Once you start, you used it this month, the next month, you spend all your salary to pay it and leaving you with no money, because you have no more money left, its becomes a point that you HAVE TO use credit card. Try stopping it for a month. curb all your spending temptations. If in that month, you need to repay your debts and have nothing left to eat, maybe you can try borrowing the smallest amount required for you to eat from a friend or family, at least you can pay them by instalment and you do not have that kind of liability as towards credit card bills. Its not easy, i tried for a few months too. Dont wait till you have to be declared bankrupt to realise your mistake.
Dont become a slave to money,
make it your slave! |

If you are asking because you have big debts already, then you'd need extra strategies.
If you don't want to follow an older brother or sister's example, here is a good idea.
Look for a credit card that is interest free for 30 days. If you have ongoing debts, it will accumulate. But if you work within your monthly income and pay on time, your credit card can work for you.
When it comes time to buy a home, your credit history will help a lot.
If you can also put aside at least 10% of your income, that will help fund a lot of dreams you have for later. There is no rule you have to spend the whole pay check by Saturday night or the annual holiday. |

Always pay it off ASAP, don't just pay the minimum! Get one with low interest & low yearly charges: use your calculator to work out yearly comparisons. Never get cash advances, or pay off one credit card with another. Know how much you can afford to BORROW, WITH INTEREST, AND PAY BACK. Some people put their card in a plastic container, with water, and freeze it, if they get into trouble, others just cut them up! Best way is to be what the companies call a "FREELOADER", and pay the total balance off within the given time, which can be up to 55 days, if you work it right! |

1. Cut it up
if you can't bring yourself to do that
2. Use a VISA debit kinda thing where you still hit credit but you spend your own money
or if that still doesn't appeal to you
3. Keep a very low limit on it |

I don't agree completly with the guy above me. I would say you should probably not spend anything that you can't completly pay off within a month. It is really easy to get into debt, so you will have to be really careful. Don't buy anything and charge it if you know you can't pay it off when the bill comes. However, they are helpful in building and establishing your credit. |

Only spend what you can afford to pay back in a month's time.
You don't get credit for this on your credit report because you'll be carrying close to a zero balance each month, but then again you won't have credit card debt either. |

Start using cash to pay for your purchases....you'll start thinking twice before spending. It's harder to give up cash than to swipe that card. |
