cam'ron! | What are ways to build your credit for a teen?? |

Best way to build credit is to get a bank cards just don't ever over withdraw. Then when your 18 go to the bank an apply for a credit card normally they have options if you don't get approved because you have no credit that allow you to open a credit card with 500 dollars at the end of the year you get the 500 dollars back. You know cell phone companies offer the same service you pay money upfront but you get it back at the end of the year as long as you pay your bill. |

The best way is to apply and put up the deposit.. then next time you will not have to do that ... kr

well the co-signer is the only way actually to build your credit....you need savings/checking accts also. which will ask for a cosigner because you are too young to have one on you own. Other than that wait until you are 18 and open lines of credit that you pay on for a couple of months and then payoff monthly. |

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think you can build credit with a land line phone account. I'm not sure about that depending on age though...they might not even let you have your name on a phone account if you're a minor. |

Well if you're a "young" teen, I don't think you will be allowed to have a cell in YOUR name. I was 18 when I got my first cell and the company would not allow me to put it in my name, my mom had to sign up and I would just pay her every month (had to be 19). If you are 18/19 you could look into getting a credit card with a max of only a few hundred dollars.
If you're not 18 or 19, don't worry too much about credit, there's not too much you can do at this point. Just make sure to have a bank account which is under your name (like a young saver's account with your local bank) and keep your money in the bank! You'll get interest every month and will gain even more money.
Good luck. |

Yes, getting a cell phone could help build your credit, think about it they use your social and give you a monthly bill they don't really report monthly though, thats what credit card are for but if you wanna start your credit thats the quickest way, or you can go for a secured credit card |

Hi, I work at a bank so I will tell you that unfortunately, you cannot have credit until you are 18. It's the law - minors are not legally able to enter into a binding contract (credit) - sorry. Having a cell phone will not build credit because it does not get reported to the credit bureau. Once you turn 18 or if you are 18 already, the best way to build credit is to do a savings secured loan. More than likely you will not need a co-signer for this. Go to your bank to find out more about these type of loans. Another way is to open a small visa account - you may need a co-signer for this.
If you are under 18, just try to build up your savings account. |

If you have a bank account ask for a SMALL passbook loan and pay it back quicker than it was scheduled for.
Good Luck
