Many things can affect your score, but bills such as home, phone, electric, water etc. will not be reported unless unpaid and a collection is filed. What is considered are credit bills, small loans and of course home / auto loans.. Pay your bills on time (especially no more than 30 days late) and keep your spending no more than 50% of you original limit. A $200.00 credit card with a $199.00 balance, though paid perfect, will still drop your score. A $10,000 loan with a $5000 balance will score good. Many collection companies will report a $250.00 amount due as a 120 day late (05) with a $250 limit and balance. They will not totally charge it off but hurt you the hardest by keeping it late pay plus 100% limit to balance.

Credit cards, loans, mortgages are routinely reported to the credit bureau and thus affect your score. Other bills such as utilities and medical bills are usually only reported when they go into collection, but when that happens, they dramatically lower your score. |

If a company has your social security number, then the bills can potentially affect your credit rating. Since you generally give companies a SS# to get credit cards, loans, etc., anything of that nature that goes unpaid will affect your score in a negative way; likewise, your credit report also reflects accounts that have a positive history. |

Small steps like paying your bills on time and using only part of the credit available to you. Also use your credit cards for making small payments regularly, so that it is reflected in your credit record. More tips available at http://www.acreditlibrary.com/buildcredit.html |
