if you are on the do not call list, when you make an inquiry, apply for a loan, or request for information and put your phone number, like when you buy a car, for example, the fact that you put in an application means you are giving them permission to call you.
the do not call list only applies to unsolicited calls.
as for your problem with someone giving out your phone number, all you can do there is let the callers know that there's no one here by that name, and tell them to stop calling your number. |

register on the "do not call list" to stop the telemarketers. I did it and all those kind of calls stopped within a month. |

Aside from the Federal Do Not call list that others have mentioned, call your phone service provider and change your listing to "private." Not "unlisted," but private. Many don't know that unlisted numbers can still end up on telemarketing lists, but legally, private numbers cannot. When you have done these two things, if you still get calls, you may politely ask the name of the company calling, then report them. |

also just ask them to stop....you must be insistant on what ever they say just say please do not call any more ,eventually they will!
I think they are bound by law to stop. |

Id let the ***** have it!!! also go to www.donotcall.gov and this will
put u on a no call list no telemarketers can call u..if they do they will be fined..its a free site and service btw..Also Id send her all kinds of catalogs and magazines,etc she will reicve so much junk mail if u call and sign her up for **** |

Getting on the No Call List will not help, because someone actively gave out the number.
If you answer the phone, tell them they have the wrong number. Give her number, and also tell them you do not with to be contacted. |
