There are several things you can do. Call each credit card company (the # is found on the back of the card). Tell them your problem and let them know you want to pay them back, that you want to continue to have good credit with them. They may give you a break but will charge your account more Finance Charges to get you through this hard time. As for your other expenses, such as your electric bill or your phone bill, call and see what arrangements you can make with them (they may let you pay in installments). I hope these suggestions are helpful.

For the long term, if you can't pay for something right now with cash, then you can't afford to buy it. Credit Cards are a convenience and should be used that way. That's how you got into big debt, by buying things you can't afford. I know, it's a bitter pill to swallow but learning these things will help you along the way.

More suggestions: Get a second job to tide you over this rough spell. On repaying your credit card debt, always pay more than minimum. On paying your regular bills, pay them when you get the bill (do not save it until it's due) because it is due now. You can wait and forget about it until it's late and then you will be charged a Late Charge.

Normally, you don't solve money problems with more money. You learn how to set up a budget for yourself. You can do it simply. Income VS Expenses. You will see just how much you need to bring home to cover these expenses. It's that easy.

Get a higher paying job or a part time job.

Try calling your creditors and explaining your situation. Ask them what options they can offer you. Most creditors are willing to work with you if you demonstrate willness to catch your payments up later.

It's been my experience helping people that calling credit card companies and asking for help is mostly a waste of time. Only time they have ever worked with us is when the debt is delinquent and they finally realize they may not get anything at all.

My suggestion is forget credit manage companies. They only charge you for things you can easily do yourself. Many times they just take all your disposable money and then pay your bills for you.

In think you can do better.

But you need sit down and take a very serious look at your budget. Many times people say they can afford their bils, but once you put everything down in writing, you realize that if you quit dining out every week, stop that trip to Starbucks every morning, kill your cable-tv, car pool, etc....you can find $200 a month easily!

Then use that money to start paying off your high interest credit cards. Eventually you can get caught up.

How much in debt are you? If you can't come up with a plan to get out of debt within 7 years, you may want to just look at the bankruptcy option. It's not gonna be pretty, but at least you will be clean after 7 years, and not still struggling to catch up with debts.

Good luck.

keep paying whatever you can on them each month and after awhile they'll dwindle down

credit counseling or bankruptcy

Make sure you go to a legitimate credit counselor. Don't pay any money to any credit agency to make this go away until you check them out. Better Business Bureau and Internet reviews.
