Get a hold of some works by Dave Ramsey. He has a Financial Peace University series on audio CD and on DVD. He has some awesome strategies to help you get rid of debt using the money you already have.
Example: He tells you to first and foremost put $1000 in the bank as an emergency fund. (And no, a new couch is not an emergency.)
Then he proposes a "debt snowball". List your debts, from lowest balance to highest. Pay minimums on all EXCEPT the one with the lowest balance. Pour all you can in that one. When the top one is finished, take that amount, plus the minimum you were already paying on it and put it on the next one, repeat process until all done.
He has other steps, but I don't want to pimp them for you. His book is the first step. My wife and I are about $10K in debt and this is really helping us.
Good luck to you, and tell your husband "thanks" for me! |

I know that $6,000 or $7,000 seems like a lot of debt, but most people are a lot deeper in debt.
Your husband should speak with his buddies who are also in the military. They would know of any special loan programs that could help your husband out.
Avoid the payday lenders. They are just evil.
Good luck. |

Seeing as to how your husband is active military there are ways to get help.
On December 19, 2003, the President of the United States signed into law H.R. 100, the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act. This law completely rewrites the Soldiers and Sailors Civil Relief Act of 1940, expanding many of the previous law's civil protections.
Here is the web site to get more information. Basicaly this act provides for creditors to freeze interest rates at 6% while on active duty and/or deployed.

Hope this helps. |

Try doing a yard sale....you will be surprised at the amount of money you can make. This will at least give you some spending money so your debt won't continue to grow. |

First of all you need to check out any financial consultant is available nearby ur area. Then if u tell ur problem,he may be in a position to help you.
secondly, you may check out with any bank for a loan but see whether u can repay the installments?U choose the maximum period installments as the payment will be low so no burden.

First off, don't buy things you can't really afford. Send out allotments so it takes out of your check automatically so you never see the money. Get a good loan like the VA and pay it off in installments. |

Huh?
You're talking about borrowing money to get rid of debt? How is that gonna help?
It hurts, but the only way to eliminate debt is to spend LESS than you make EVERY MONTH. Save half of the difference and use half to pay extra on your current debt. |

Is your husband in iraq? Are you going to iraq? Is he or you 'fighting in the war' whether iraq or afghanistan? If yes, I believe you can apply for debt relief were you would not have to pay any bills until service is complete. Although it seems the answer is no because you say you have only 1 car and that would not apply if one was over seas.
But come on, you cannot work b/c you only have 1 car, i'm sorry I know you may be in the middle of no where i just buy that as a reason not to work, other wives and husbands work, see about setting up a car pool, your husband too and share the car come on. Get a job during the hours your husband is NOT working and use the car.
You only need $7,000 if you were to get a good job even at a restaurant earning tips you would make that in less then 12 months. |

create a budget, and stick to it.
get a second job/work overtime/sell stuff on ebay.
use a debt consolidation service, they charge a fee but they negtiate your interest rates way down. |
