I mean all the numbers, names, expiry dates, etc on the card. Surely if someone used them online to buy something, the police could just check who or where it was delivered to and catch the crook? Or am I missing something. Just watched the Real Hustle on TV there and they got someone's details but I don't see how they could actually use them? |

Could be used abroad, that would take much longer for you to detect, and by then the damage would have been done. |

Yes, the police and/or company would try to track down who was using the infomation, but it's not as easy as it seems. In the meantime, they would be ringing up charges and ruining your credit. |

Sorry to have to tell you the bad news but NO, the police are not as "on the ball" as we'd like to think they are. Credit card and identity frauds are the 2 fastest growing crimes and even when a fraud is found out, it can take ages to put right. As for delivery addresses, not all landlords are meticulous about screening and checking their tenants; people rent places and move on, so catching them is even harder! |

Yes you are missing something. Do you really think the police have enough resources to go chasing after credit card frauds?

Dont assume that the banks automatically believe you when you tell them " it wasnt me that bought x,y,z" |
