sweettartbaby28 | What credit card company offers a low interest rate %? I need to open a major credit card.? |
I'm 18 years old and I would like to open a major credit card but I'm having a hard time finding one that has a low interest rate. Any suggestions on who to go with or where to look on the web? |

I had good luck with Capital One. They didn't give me a large credit line, but their interest rate is good. Another thing you might consider is just paying off the balance every month so that the interest rate isn't a concern to you. |

My advice is to NOT get a credit card. If you do a search in yahoo answers on 'credit cards', you'll find a lot of people in debt beacause of credit cards.
Instead, use cash or a debit card. It will make you more responsible (and wealthy) in the long run.

I think the best way as it was said above, open a debit card that is more easier and cheaper in contrast with credit card. |

You don't need a credit card. People make excuses for them, but in the end it's not a good idea. Cashback. Wow, five whole bucks. If your payment gets lost or the company doesn't post it on time, there goes the cashback in interest.
People spend more using plastic than cash or check when shopping. Swipe and sign.
You are in the demographic that credit card companies attack with a vengeance.
Save about $500, Open a checking account, get a debit card. you're only 18. Hopefully, you have a long debt free life ahead of you. |

Interest rates that credit cards offer are depending on your credit score. There is no "one" company that has rates lower than others. |

If you make your payments on time, Discover Card will never charge you at all. I've been using it for a whole year now and I've come out $5 ahead by having good credit. |

If you're 18 years old you probably have little or no credit established. I doubt that you will be able to get a "low rate" card. I like Capital One, my card has a 6.99% rate. Good Luck! |

At your age no credit card company would give you anything below 24%. The interest rate is determined by credit history and my assumption is that you don't have any, considering your age. My advice-open a secured credit card. Go to any bank and give them an amount (usually a minimum of $300). They will give you a credit card with limit of that balance. Every month use it and pay it in full. As long as you make good payments (you pay at least the minimum and on time every time) in about six to ten months the bank will refund your initial deposit and make your credit card unsecure. At that point you would have enough credit payment s on your bureau and you will start receiving offers from other credit card companies with more competitive rates. It will not be 5% but in the teens. |
