ANY! Just pay off your balance at the end of each month! Don't get in over your head.
Use it maybe once or twice a month, then pay it off and it'll build your credit up. The more you can buy/pay off, the better. |

Consumer Reports had a special on which credit card is best in the October '07 issue but to protect myself from copyright issues, I'll just state the main points:
- If you pay off your statement each month, then get a card with no annual fee
- If you run a balance, get a card with a low interest rate
- If you want rewards, get a reward card but don't expect to carry a balance and make sure the card will give you points for everyday purchases
- USAA Federal Savings, Navy Federal Credit Union, and Other Credit Unions made the top three list respectively (Credit Unions were highly recommended) |

Any bank-held card. Stay away from the cards that will "approve anyone" - those are BLACK MARKS on your credit, because they're known for high risk clientele. |

Any card is good. It's the matter of keeping out of debt and staying with your payments. Also, choose a card with the lowest APR to lower your monthly payments. |

NONE!!! DONT DO IT!!! credit cards = debt!! a vicious cycle of debt!!!
" if you cant pay for it with cash then dont buy it", is what ive learned.
if you need to establish credit, go by means of a cell phone, utilities, etc, by no means get a credit card, they are evil!!!!
dont go with anything with a APR!
trust me i know!! theyll do anything to hook a new person into a card, and then you know youll have 50,000 wrapped up in CC's, and cant pay them!!!

This is probably the safest and fastest way for you to build your credit in 1 year. Seriously, look for a credit card, any credit as long as there are no annual fee. Now the next step is to go ahead and used your credit card and sign up for something that automatically deducts your payment(something like say cell phone bill or something (something under 50buck a month))(I would recommend something like a blockbuster account, something like this that is cheap). This will be shown as an revolving account when you do a credit check. Don't purchase anything else... just let your credit card do its magic. In 6months, your creditor will send you a notice paper for credit "increase". In one year, when you check your credit (run a credit check after 1year of usage) your credit should be within the 700+range. This automatically qualifies you for pretty much anything. From car loans to renting on your own and etc. But not houses yet (income also required). If you decide to run of this course, thats your choice, but for those who are scared and seriously don't know any **** about credit building this is it. Don't even fall for those reward nonsense. If you got a credit card that rewarded you with airfare to anywhere in the US, how much do you think you would have to spend. At least $15,000 thats what. **** you could have purchased your own dam ticket. |

In my experience Mastercard and or Visa is pretty much widely used and excellent to building credit..only if your making your payments on time and no delinquencies is the key to credit card junk mail galore. Other creditors want your business if your making your payments on time... |

A good way to start building credit would be through Washington Mutual, Household bank, Orchard or First Premier Bank - all are for starters with small credit limits
There are fees involved and a slightly higher interest rate. As indicated in other comments, make your payments - on time and a few dollars than requested for minimum....
You will build your credit history as the age of the account gets older. This would be considered revolving credit.
As you add additional types, car loan, student loan (installment) your score will grow as it is based on types of credit as well as your payment history.
Do not apply for more than 2/3 items in a year. Creditors take that as being desperate for credit and too many inquiries will lower your score.
I started my credit with First Premier and Fingerhut years ago and still have both lines of credit.
Also try to keep all balances 30% of your limit to keep your score good - if you max out your score will drop |

from my point of view NO credit card is the way to go. Even the most diligent credit card holders can get duped by the system. |
