You do not want a credit card at all. With your student loans you want to have as much cash as possible on hand to pay it off. Credit cards promote unnecessary spending.

well personally i think credit cards are DUMB!! i say u don't get one it can really screw things up

Dr. Acula
Dont get a credit card. Get a debit card.
Then you wont go into debt with the company and stuff. You can only spend what moneys on the card.

and visa of course

Tracey
None pay cash and build credit through loans. Cards are just trouble when you are young

Alot2Say
Do the cash back thing. Points are for ppl who have the time to use them. A young kid in school then straight to work after school, you wont have the time to use them.

I think it all depends on purpose. If you want to rebuild ur credit, go with a Secure card. For unsecured cr. Cards, be extra careful that u note the apr and grace periods. Biggest tip I can give u? Stay away from store credit cards.
Maybe you want to pull your credit report first and see what's on them.

As a student with limited credit history, you'll have a few options. Here are some examples of credit cards you might qualify for: http://www.asapcreditcard.com/student-cards.html

I wouldn't worry about cash back or points. Focus on two important things. No annual fee and low rate. Read the fine print to find out what may cause them to raise your rate. Though it usually says something like, we can change you rate at any time for any reason they'll say what will change when. For example, I'm pretty sure Chase doesn't jack up your rates, and Capital One gives you one time forgiveness but if you do it twice the rate goes crazy.
