Okay, so I went to a burger place earlier today and did drive-thru. The cashier forgot to give me a receipt and my card back, and I totally forgot all about it myself too. I guess I was prob. concerned about getting my order correctly. I drove home and found out that she kept it indeed. I tried calling the place, but they were closed. I drove there as well and they were closed. I don't wanna call it in because I know she has it or left it somewhere hidden (safe) in the restaurant. Should I have called it in even though I might get it tomorrow? If I do get it tomorrow, do I ask for a new card, because somebody might have gotten my digits already? What should I have done? What do I do? |

I used to be a clothing store manager, and this would happen quite often. Moms would come in with the kids, get distracted, and the credit card would be on the counter when she left. Or the new girl would leave the card on the register when processing a new credit application. Any way it was left, we had protocol for someone leaving a credit card.
- If we couldn't catch the customer, it would get locked away.
-If the customer did not call us/come in within 48 hours, we would then call the number on the back of the card. They would call the number listed on the credit app and connect us through. We would tell them that we have their card. If we could not get through to the customer, the credit card company would report it lost and cancel the card.
** Call the burger joint, I am sure the card is there and is fine. Of course, there is always a chance of credit card fraud. But I like to believe most peolpe are honest. If they say they don't have the card, talk to the manager; then call the card company and report it stolen. |

You should cancel it immediately! Presume that someone there has taken your numbers off it...it's heaps easier to wait for a new card, as opposed to having to deal with the credit card companies when you have unexplained charges...CANCEL IT NOW! |

Call and cancel the card NOW as in right away. Chances are this was not a dumb mistake. By reporting the loss quickly, you minimize your financial responsibility!!! Get a new card... |
