Since you are self employed mortgage brokers will usually ask for your past 2 years of tax records to verify your income. You can check your credit at www.quizzle.com for free once a year and you can also get tips on there. If you income is not too high you may qualify for an RD loan which requires no down payment, but you can "buy" your credit score. The more money you put down the more likely you are to get a loan. Talk to a mortgage broker.
