Actually, all you need is a checking/savings account and a social security number. You do not need a full time job if you are a student. There are many banks that provide student credit cards, such as Capital One and Citi, where the credit line is low and the interest rate is high. By getting one of these, you allow yourself to develop tradelines and credit history. If you are not a student, you need a full time job and the above mentioned items. If you currently have no tradelines, start out by applying for a store credit card such as Macy's or Express. Use your card minimally for 6 months to a year and pay it ON TIME before applying for a Visa or Mastercard. |

Here's a crazy question: Why do you even need a credit card? Why not use cash?
Just review the questions posted in this (credit) section and you'll discover many people in debt. If you'd ask, you'd also find many of these people have a lot of credit card debt.
Credit cards are an easy way to get into trouble because most people (including myself at one time) can't control their spending with credit cards.
If you need to rent a car, buy something on-line, etc. you can do that with a debit card.
Bottom-line: Avoid credit cards and use cash. You'll never regret it!

A job, a permanent address, good credit--but the below bank is good about issuing credit cards to people with less than perfect credit scores. Worth a try. (And I would report that first answerer. There is no call for being so rude and profane.) |

You need to have a good credit history, with a job. Remember to get a credit card that you can pay off each month! Otherwise it won't be beneficial for you!
Please go to the website below.
I hope this helps! |

credit history- easiest way is to get a car or secured card through the bank you check at. after having a secured card usually minimum of ($300) for 6 months you can usually graduate to a real one.
second is have same address and job for atleast 2 years.
and to know what credit you have positive or negative.
the link below has a good credit guide |
