My family and I our loosing our home of 14 years all because we tried to help someone out that had no where to go, and was homeless, and now because HUD calls her an unreported person, we have lost our housing assistance and I am unable to work because of my disablity, we have no where to go, we have tried appealing HUDS decision but got denied, and have tried several agencies but got turned away because of lack of funds. Now my landlord tells us she has filed eviction papers, so with not much time what do we do, looking for any helpful advice, even tried getting a loan but with no bank account and bad credit we are unable to get one.

I agree with the appeal process for the denial, but also if you have a caseworker at HUD then that may help. What did the person you tried to help say or do? I would also start looking into shelters now and going to every social service agency that offers housing assistance for help. YES, PRAY! God Bless. You are in my prayers. |

do you have any relatives? try asking them if you guys can stay for a while until things work out a little better. or do you have a good friend willing to help you? maybe they have a guest room?? can your family members get a job since you cant? |

you cry... and cry but at the same time you HAVE to get all your other options in... it's so hard being a single mom, my mother worked her butt off for us and eventually everything got better... find someone generous enough to let you stay with tham... we are having the same problem but not exactly...we cant afford our rent of 400 and it's me and my husband and we have two kids, we 3 months were evicted from our apartment and found a house we were 15 min late getting to the bank to depodit the check in her account and she closed the deal leaving us homeless with no-one to turn to... our belongings were sitting outside for two days on the ground infront of my mother-in-laws home and we finally found a trailor... but we have been living here for only 3 months and my mom paid rent this month and my husbands mom paid rent the month before that... my husband works but we have loads of bills especially doctors bills...im still trying to figure out my own situation...GoOd LuCk you will need it...it's okay to cry... |

Sound like you abused the regulations to qualify for the housing assistance. They do allow you do have a guest in your home for two weeks and you should have known that. If you were just helping someone out, two weeks should have been sufficient time for them to find other housing. However, I do empathize with you, I know of a close friend that the same thing happened to. She also knowlingly allowed others to stay with her when she was receiving assistance. I told her repeatedly to add these two people to her case and she would still qualify but maybe have to pay a little more in rent. Anyway, I know I am rambling and I can't offer any suggestions and there is no point in me continuing telling you what you did wrong, you already know. Sorry, but rules and rules. You were fortunate to have had the assistance for 14 years. Good Luck, I really mean it. |
