What does 'take home salary mean?'?
My math question says that a woman has a weekly gross salary of $590.20 and a take home salary of $464.90. what does that mean?

Marriedtothearmy 2
what you bring home after taxes

wizjp
After State, federal taxes and deductions.

Finneganswhacked
The net income after taxes, etc.

Just here.

The 464.90 is what you actually bring home after taxes

take home salary is what is left after taxes and other monies are taken out of the gross salary amount.

it's the amount of money after taxes and such. The money you actually see.

55Spud
It means the amount on your paycheck. It's after taxes, s.s., etc.

her "take home" is what she actually receives once taxes have been removed.

jinx
after tax and insurance are taken from her salary

wish I were
It's what she gets on her paycheck after taxes and things are taken out of it! What she takes home, not her full pay.

Rebecca M
what she said

Gem Lou
What you have left after paying your taxes and pension scheme if there is one.

Penny
It means she makes $590.20, but after taxes, insurance and other deductions she takes home $464.90 (what is left).

Lots of things can cause money to be withheld from your paycheck, especially taxes, but also health insurance premiums, 401K plan investments, etc. Gross salary is what her employer agreed to pay her before all those deductions. Take home pay is her net paycheck, after deductions.

it means that her total salary (gross) is 590.20 but after deduction of taxes and other statutory dues (payments to the government and other deductions) her nett salary is only 464.90. I hope this is helpfull

Take home means exactly that "what you take home or to the bank" What is left after taxes, insurance, etc.etc. LOL :)

bettyboopgirl
your salary reduces to the $464.90 which means it's what you actually see..
the rest was taken by uncle sam.. the government fees like your state and city tax and health benefit comes out and so on..several fees that you will see stated on your check stub..
that why you file taxes and uncle sam will return some of it at tax season.

Constance C
It means after taxes.
