The account coule be over the limit, the payment could be late, he could have cancelled it, the fraud department could be doing it if the charges seem different than normal use... it could be any number of things. Tell him, it's something he needs to know!

It depends on whether or not you were authorized to use it. Some reasons for it to be declined are:
Your dad reported it stolen.
It is over the spending limit.
There is a credit alert in place that would require the card owner to call in order for a purchase to be authorized.
The computer link was simply down at the time you attempted to use.
It is your dads card so go talk to him.

Flup
It could be any number of things. Sometimes, credit card companies decline transactions that don't match the normal spending pattern of the cardholder. For example, I hardly ever use my card, but the other day I booked some flights and the second transaction was declined. The bank called me a couple of minutes later to confirm that it was really me.

Alternatives are: the card is at its limit, payments are overdue, or a simple technical failure. The only way to know what happened is for your Dad to contact the issuer and ask them.

It might be that the limit of money allowed on credit has been exceeded. By the way, does your Dad know you have his credit card and have you been using it a lot without his permission?

it mean your Dad reported it gone (or stolen) or your dad didn't pay the bill or hes over his credit limit

wildbirdie
Hes going to find out when he sees the statement.

It means that the credit card is either maxed out or your dad has cut you off. Either way he will find out soon enough when the bill comes in.

It is over the limit Meaning there is no room to add more purchases.
You best tell you dad.

You Dad's credit card had a Limit on it; meaning that its' balance could not exceed a certain amount. Apparently you did!

Fess up and tell him, and between the two of you, figure out how YOU can fix it. You may have to borrow the money, even from Dad, and then repay it!

Merry Xmas
