What does it mean if i have negative one dollar in my acct?
i have a checking acct that has a balance of negative 1 dollar. i checked my acct a week ago from an ATM, and thought that i had a dollar left, when actually i had a negative balance. I didnt realize the negative. well, since i have had a negative balance for like 2 weeks, what could be the consequences? will i get charged with daily fees? will this affect my credit? im really mad cuz i only went over by a dollar. i do have like $250 stored in my savings acct though.

Some banks charge an initial overdraft fee plus an ongoing overdraft fee if your account remains at a negative balance over a certain period of time. This won't affect your credit score. In fact, if this is an isolated incident, the only affect should be one or more annoying fees.

You should review your account activity or walk into a branch as soon as possible to find out the total amount of the bank fees relating to this matter. You should also make a deposit to your account to make sure you have a minimum cushion of $50.00 which will prevent this from happening in the future.

If your checking account was overdrawn by $1.00 because of a bank charge such as a monthly fee, ATM fee, etc., you may be able to talk them into reversing any overdraft charges.

No, you will not get charged with daily fees, but you will have to pay an overdraft fee that is usually around $30 - $40.

Your credit will not be affected, so don't worry. Just find out if you have to pay an overdraft fee. Once you've payed that off, there's nothing to worry about.

You might get an overdraft fee, but you probably won't because it would have aleady been imposed and you would have a -$29 balance.

It won't hurt your credit because occassional overdrafts are not reported to credit reporting agencies.

Don't get mad... be happy that you made a small error and there will be no consequences.

No run and put a couple of bucks in the account tomorrow morning!

(P.S. It sounds like you may have an account that charges $2 a month if you do not maintain a $100 balance -- give or take on all of those numbers. The $2 fee would have taken you from + 1 to - 1, but they would not impose an overdraft charge on that.

I believe it means you are broke.

Check with your bank, but it means that you are overdrawn, which could result in fees, especially if you have written checks to that account that haven't been cashed yet. Transfer some of the money from your savings to your checking and change your checking account to include overdraft protection. I don't think that it will affect your credit if you take care of it right away. & start balancing your checkbook from now on.

It depends on your bank. Some banks will charge you a daily fee (about $35 - $75, depending on the bank) for being overdrawn. Some will only charge you a fee (again, around $35 - $75) for every purchase for which you have inadequate funding, including the charger that put you in the red to begin with. If you having a savings account with the same bank, you should be able to transfer money into your checking account pretty easily, though, via phone, internet, or a quick visit to the bank.

You can also have your checking and savings linked for the future so that, should this happen again, the bank will automatically take the funds needed from savings and put it into checking. Some banks may charge a small fee for this. It's a really sound (and simple) form of overdraft protection. Most banks also offer other, usually more expensive, overdraft protection plans.

They really ought to tell you (by mail at LEAST) if you've been overdrawn for that long. If there are multiple charges, call them and explain the situation. Be calm and polite (at least at first), but threaten to take your business elsewhere if necessary. There's a very good chance that they might remove some of the charges.

It means that you are negative 1$. Depending on the bank you have, you could be charged daily for being negative. Ya you're mad because it is only a dollar but at the same time, you should be checking it to make sure you arent negative.

Yes, you'll incur charges each day, you should check on that. Even if it's only negative $1. It probably won't affect it too much. But you need to get the fee money to them asap or you'll just keep piling on the fees.

Well National city charges for both overdraft and then daily fees. Check with your bank
